Im not a Bush supporter...and I generally hate the guy. But I have to give him credit for owning up to his mistakes and admitting that himself and the federal government were to blame. Ive actually gained a little bit of respect for him, for that reason.
Hopefully now they can figure out everything that went wrong like they said and make sure it doesn't happen again in the event of a future disaster.
Is it my fault that Jason gets pissed off at every political issue? Nope, he's the one with the messed up views on things not me, And if you actually read the responses from my posts, Then youll see that a small minorty actually agrees with what Jason and a few others beleive in.

You're agreeing with w00dland's post above this quoted one without actually saying it. Is it fun trying to get in arguements with other members. Would you rather have no friends than friends? I'm just curious.
My take on this is, Bush shouldn't have accepted responsibility for
what happened in NO. It wasn't his fault.
I want the Mayor of NO to admit that he didn't do all he could have
to have saved peoples lives.
Errors the Mayor Made:
#1: Not strengthening the levee to handle a Cat 5 Storm.
Editorial: The Mayor has all powers to fix that levee and make sure it could handle Hurricanes up to Cat 5. He doesn't need the President to lead him by the hand and do everything for him. He didn't do it and he needs to appologize for not having the levee strengthened
#2: Not utilizing other resources to get people out of NO.
Editorial: There were tons of busses that could have been used to get those, who didn't have the means, to leave. He could have used School Busses and Public Transportation Busses to get people out. He had about 3-4 days to get people out of the city. 80% got out. I think that 100% could have.
Lets also remember that many people stayed cause they didn't want to leave, not because they couldn't get out. It's not Bush's fault for that. There were plenty of video footage of people on roofs of houses and down next to their house, was a car or truck.
Even before Katrina was around, I would have had plans to tell people, if you need help in evacuating, please make your way to the nearest Evacuation Staging Area and board one of the many busses that are ready to take you to a safer area.
The mayor needs to appologize and take responsibility for not having a proper evacuation plan and for not using all resources to get people out before the storm.
#3: He put people in harms way.
Editorial: He put people in harms way by sending them to locations that were in danger of the flooding. The places were virtually unaccessable via roads.
This point goes along with point #2. If he had proper Evacuation Plans, he would have thought smart and send people to where they won't be in the middle of the levee system. The top area that needed to be evacuated is the portion that is directly in the levee system. They should have been taken to the Airport, which is outside of the levees and is accessable via road.
He shouldn't have had people go to the Convention Center and the Superdome. He needs to appologize and accept responsibility for sending people to danger areas.
#4: Calling Bush Racist.
Editorial: Although he didn't say specifically that Bush was racist, he implied the notion. Anyone who uses race in this type of situation, are people who will not take responsibility for their own actions.
It is the Mayor's fault that help didn't get to the people quick, because of the places that the Mayor put people. If people were able to be sheltered at the Airport, aid would have been there immediatly. As I have stated in other topics, the Salvation Army was ready to roll and was in LA, but had no way to get to the people in need, because the roads were inaccessible.
It wasn't the fact that Bush was being racist and decided not to send help, it's the fact that help was there, but they had no way of getting to the people, because of the Mayor's stupid decisions.
The Mayor needs to appologize to President Bush for basically calling him racist.
Overall, was all this I said Bush's Fault? NO. Bush doesn't need
to take the blame for something that isn't his fault. Would I appologize
for doing something I didn't do? Heck No. Why should he??
Should the Mayor take responsibility for his lack of actions and his
outlandish remarks? YES!!

He should have declared a state of emergency about two days before when they new it was going to be an almost direct hit on New Orleans.
A couple of hours before.

"Why is nice bad? What kind of a sick society are we living in when nice is bad?"
Oh sry I just remebered it being like 6 hrs before the hurricane hit.

Ray Nagin was on Larry King last night and he did take some responsibility.
All levels of government screwed up here.
While I don't think race played a role in the slow response, I do believe it's an economic thing. Poor people will always take a backseat to wealthy people.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Just another excuse to bash the president. At least Bush accepted responisibility. I see Nagin on CNN everyday bs-ing about how its her fault, no it's his fault, it's anybody's but my fault. Every chnace he got he blamed someone else. Bush never blamed anyone else, and publicly accepted responsibility for his actions first. Where the slow response was a bad choice on his part, I believe that owning up to your mistakes is a trait of a good president.
Show me a democrat that accepts responsibility for his mistakes like that.

No reliable intel on exact location. Thats why a cruise strike was ordered up instead. See unlike Bush this draft dodger didn't want to send good military men to their death based on sketchy intel.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
Was it not a mistake that clinton didnt use the information he had to snag binladen? Its not about the war, you asked a question, you got an anwer that you didnt like so you bring the war in!
