Owned Land

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Or what six flags could do is what Six Flags Over Georgia did and build outisde of the part but start inside the park. Goliath even goes around the water that is outside their park, so why couldnt six flags do something liek that with a floorless coaster or something?

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom anyone? I know its long, but just read the whole thing

They could easily construct a bridge going through the maitenence section and put that land into great use for an extended area(s). If they were creative and smart enough, that land could be used for many things. The idea for a giga would be great as it could easily be an "L" shaped out and back with some nice new restraunts/food stands, games, and other flats that could go along with it.....but......

If they know theyre low on land, that area could go for a great childs play area with rides that would all fit a theme and at least two "smaller" coasters as well. While the fact of having a new large coaster is good, not all roller coasters have to be huge to be fun or great. They could be a new Maure sohne X-car coaster, and a compact floorless you all so despretaley need, or a new family coaster.....this is just an idea, the coasters could be anything, but if they compose an area with family and teen/adult entertainment, then thats the smart plan in my opinion....to have a great balance of both worlds

A Giga would be nice there, but a lot of money would go into it. Not only to build the Giga, but to expand the park that far. If they wanted it to look nice, and not be just one really long walk, they'd have to puit some flats, games, reasturaunts, and restrooms along the way.

This would be the best way to use the land if they could and wanted to spend lots of money. But mostl ikely they cannot use the land around the park like that possibly due to Gurnee requiring a buffer around the park to reduce noise. I don't know if there is such a requirement but if you look all around SFGAM there is unused land, except next to the Tollway.

Back on topic, they could build the lift hill over the lot and put all the loops and crap there.

msoeagle...loops and crap to what :?

^and yes they can leave it alone. I just dont see the need to take out a coaster for another when they could put creative and smart engineering to use on that land.

When the time comes sometime in the distant future where Great America tears down Eagle, that would probably be the only time that they consider expanding on that land. In that case, the line is already over the train tracks and all they would have to do is carry it over to where the new attraction begins. However, until that day, which probably won't be for a long time, that land most likely will go untouched.

The area we area all referring to is indeed a storm water/water feature retention pond. The various water features like the ponds under the Whizzer, water near Deja Vu and the water that is under the bridges in Yankee Harbor is all connected and runs to this (as well as another) retention pond. Large portions of Great America were built on wetlands, and to handle runoff that would go to these areas this pond was built.

It was also the site of the farm that wasn't demolished until the park was finished.

^ So basically building on this area, not only runs the risk of major flooding especially in an area prone to flooding like in 2004. But also if im not mistaken Illinois' law protects these areas under the Wildlife and Conservation Act.

Correct. I am not sure if it is classified as "wetland" under a conservation law because it is a retention pond, nor do I know if it was built to REPLACE wetlands lost in construction of the park. Whether or not that is the case, it cannot be built on or filled in.

^If it is just a retention pond, however, since it is needed couldn't you just build around it?

If the coaster is far enough from the pond, then it should be fine. Someone correct me if im wrong.

I don't know if building a ride that close to Route 21 is a great idea, and I think that the Village of Gurnee might object to a rollercoaster right there. After all, they issue construction permits.

The chances of getting Gurnee to approve a ride of any kind right there are slim to none.

This land is owned by Great America. Would be a nice place for a new themed area or maybe a giga or a strata coaster and they could connect it with hurricane harbor and soutwest territory. As long as they get rid of the Washington entrance and move it to the left and the amphitheater.

What!?!....Are you realizing how far this peice of land is from Hurricane harbor, its far enough to cause problems, and why would we want a territory such as SWTerr. extented so largly it makes the whole park appear western?
