The Walkers

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Mr. D.T. on November 26th, 2005, 9:44 am
Do you think Six Flags Great America should tag along with Gurnee Mills and open up at 7:00 AM each morning for walkers? I personally do. What do you think?

None of the rides will be open, the park will only be used for daily walkers.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Some malls open the buildings early for old people usually and they just walk around for exercise. It wouldn't be a bad idea, except they'll get lost and confused when they see back stage gates open and trucks on the midways.

Why should they do it if Gurnee Mills already does it? The only difference between two is that Six Flags is outside but at 7 AM, I thinkt Six Flags is doing more to prepare for the days operation that would be noticeable and out of the ordinary then that of Gurnee Mills

I don't think it would be a good idea. Six Flags makes a lot of preperations for the day to come at 7A.M. Besides, Gurnee Mills is open right across the street.

What they should do is sell SF tickets at Gurnee Mills information desk that way we dont have to line up at the ticketbooth at sfga and wait for a long time or having it be sold out at a Jewel store and wait for a long time before they have enough for sale and believe me, it did happen to some Jewel stores.

Unlike the mall Great America charges admission to enter the park. Opening early could lead to people abusing the system and hiding inside the park until opening. Also, if the "walkers" were unsupervised they could wander into restricted or dangerous areas.

I don't see this happening, there are too many negatives.

the biggest thing would be that when the park is not open, the midways are basically active roads, with trucks driving around the park, and early morning is when they tend to do the major maintaince, which would be anything involved a crane and other stuff of the such, which would make it really dangerous for anyone not knowing about the work.

My idea is that all the work would be done overnight and then the backstage gates would close when the walkers enter the park at 7:00.
My idea is that all the work would be done overnight and then the backstage gates would close when the walkers enter the park at 7:00.
But then two things would happen:

1. The walkers could only come in at 7 A.M.
2. They could trash the park and throw their garbage everywhere or ruin certain things that get set up.
(I know number two isn't very likely, but it could happen.)

Then Janitorial could take care of that by extending their department.

Still, my grandma hates parks. They'd probably just get scared looking at the coasters and stuff.
