Shockwavegirl, before I say anything, were you working Shockwave when it opened?

If you were then ignore the rest.

But most rides do valley somewhere on their first test runs, I know Bull did somewhere on the first half of the ride in the early testing stages. Most will and most do.

Lots of things that happen now a days at the park are kept so secret, they dont have a chance to make the news.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Here's a name for the park. "Guests: Go away"

Really smart names you all keep coming up with.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I don't think that was a very good name for a theme park. If that were so, the departments wouldn't barely make any money and would run out of business. Then all the employees would be out of a job.

In response to 'lame names' I'll think of a few as well:

Pictorium: IMAX
Grand Music Hall: Grand Royal Palace Theatre
Theatre Royale: Mardi Gras Music Hall
Jester's Wild Ride: Jester's Yawner or Future Site of a Freefall
Big Easy Balloons: Swinging Balloons
East River Crawler: The Great Octopus
Batman: Batman (Their name should never be changed except I could do without the gaudy yellow track.)
Ricochet: Big Top
American Eagle: The Illinois 500 (the winner gets a prize)
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."

I think that would be a funny name for the park just for like one day to see the crowd's reactions. Also, i though some of the names were pretty good. The one's i came up with were thought out and not just spur of the moment, like naming Iron Wolf "Standing Ovation." I don't like to toot my own horn, but i didn't think that was such a dumb name.

No I did not work there the first year it opened..I was only 8.....

But I know that sometimes rides valley on their first test runs....but they don't open them to the public until the glitch is solved...IF Shockwave EVER valleyed on the course it was only before it opened. Never with people on it.

As for another post someone said that the park would keep it secret if Eagle derailed...........since AE is right on the edge of the park, by the freeway and Washington Ave, it would be pretty hard to keep that an in park secret don't you think? Plus any riders on it when it derailed, guests in the park, especially those in line for it, or any other nearby rides probably wouldn't keep quiet about it either. It's pretty hard to keep that on the DL.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!

^Very true, but Disney managed to do it once and a while. I read a survey a few years ago about all of Disney's accidents that never were shared with the public. Kind of scary stuff, but they somehow managed to hide it.

^ The reason for that crash is because disney made adjustments to the brake zone and they didnt notify intamin about it or something like that.

It's quite possible if the derail is only one wheel assembly that derails. If the car appears completely normal from the riders' point of view, and the only way you would see one of the malfunctioned wheel assemblies was to get right down underneath the car, it's quite possible that no one would know without Six Flags telling them. In which case, they'd give the infamous, "We don't know. Check back later." Unless the train is full of enthusiasts, chances are no one will figure out why it happened, they'll think the power went out or something.

Yeah.....Disney is in the middle of the lake......a lot harder for those outside the park to see. Maybe the guests inside were payed off to keep quiet. But SFGAm doesn't have that luxury.....even if they could afford to keep the people inside quiet....you couldn't keep a derailed train a secret from those passing by on the freeway, or on Washington Ave.

And by derailed I don't mean one wheel coming off either....Derailing generally means that the train comes off the track. Much like when you hear of an Amtrak train derailing.....it means it came off the rails.

WOW  you're kidding me right? Raging Bull rough? WOW

I thought the coaster DID start to get rough the last time I rode it. It's probably either the track itself or the wheels to the train. One thing for sure is that the track could use a powerwash and maybe even a paint job. I noticed plenty of spots where the paint is starting to wear off.

Good thing they repainted it this year. I just got off Raging Bull about an hour ago (last train launched today), and it was really smooth. Also, Iron wolf could be popular again if it got new trains, put it indoors and turned it into a dark ride.
