Since this was brought up in the floorless topic, I though I would just make it a thread.
Some people think sfgam should just be coasters and there should be no flats because they just take up room. I think that flats are great to have and I like riding them. What do you think about this?
I think that anyone who beleives flats are unnecesary is a complete idiot. If all they want is coasters then they should just get this simple math:
Flats=Families...Families=Money...Money=Rides; including coasters.
I agree with you both binks and msoeagle. Its nice to take a break and hop on a flat every once in a while and it does bring in the money with families.
I have more fun on Revy and triple play, and king chaos, and sky trek tower, and erc, and river rocker, and chubasco, and superstition/stargate then I do on Iron Wolf for example, as well as another coaster widely known to be the parks most popular ride and I would get flamed for saying it, but it just doens't do anything for me.
Six Flags is TRYING to bring in families, not push them away!!
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

This is a good example of what brings families into the park and that brings money so then we get new coasters and rides. It wouldnt make any sense to get rid of them.
Another expansion idea is to turn a boring section of the park into a section with lots of family rides and as some new flats. Yukon territory would be a good area since they have cartoon network. They could take out spacely sprocket rocket and make a family coaster there.
Cause if they turned it into a family section parents wouldnt be able to ride it because it has a Height Restriction. I cant go on it and im 5 11
Actually, you can. Me and my girlfriend and the other six kids in my prom group last year all rode it and we are all over 18 with no kids. Anyone can ride it. The Scooby Doo Mystery Machine is the one that you have to be with a kid to ride.
I think that flats should be considered equal to roller coasters, in terms of building. They need to be added once and a while, just like coasters. They should only be taken out when they are not wanted anymore, just like coasters. Finally, I think that flats shouldn't be taken out for coasters, but rather moved to a different area in the park (like Whirligig when they built V2).
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
There is a 54" maximum height unless accompanied by a child on SSR. Every time I have been to the park, though, it isn't enforced.
As for Yankee Harbor, the photo shop needs to be updated with a New England color scheme and renamed to something like "Seaside Photos." Or, just taken down and having the photo service in another location. It would also be nice to see the arcade rethemed, but they Gotham City theming might be a draw for pre-teens. It would be interesting to see a poll among guests, asking if the names of rides, games, arcades, attractions, restaurants, etc. is a factor in whether or not they'll eat or play at that location.

Why would you take out a perfectly fine family coaster only to replace it with another family coaster?
No offense, but that's probably one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard.
Perfectly stated mschulz5....
Why take out spacleys? its a great coaster....and a smooth one at that I've been in line for this coaster and got out of line because its filled with kids, so thats a great thing because it draws in so many "thrill seekers in training" **aw**
