The maxiumum height is in place because of the way the over the shoulder restraints (OTSR)s fit to your body, it has nothing to do with going through the station at high speeds. The maximum height for OTSRs is something new manufacturers and parks are developing; just as you can be too short for an OTSR to fit to your shoulders properly, you can be too tall.
The reason Vertical Velocity's floor does not drop out has to do with the way it leaves the station. On Deja Vu, the floor drops down, and the operator can visually check to make sure none of the riders' feet are dragging on the platform on the way up the first tower. If necessary, he or she can easily stop the ride. This is also the reason why the operator panel is in the back of the station versus the front. It is this way on all the coasters, so that the operator can make a final visual check of the train as it's leaving the station.
On Vertical Velocity, the train is launched out of the station at a very high speed. If the floor was designed so that riders' feet could touch it while it was up, the attendants wouldn't know for sure that the riders' feet couldn't touch it after it dropped down. Once the ride has started, it's too late to stop without any injury to the rider. By not having a moving floor, while the attendants check restraints, they also check to make sure riders' feet are not touching the concrete. If they are, they're too tall to ride.
if every park had a strata coaster, then they wouldn't be special anymore. the thing that makes them so special and anticipated is that they are so far away and it's almost like travelling to mecca just to ride it.. if we had it, then it'd just be right next door and it would lose it's 'beauty' after a while..
Trailblazer Tony wrote:^Is that about Majestic Springs? I have heard a confirmation somewhere that that was openning next year, but i can't remember where. Now, i haven't heard anything about how it is coming along.
Also, look at things on the bright side, Sky Trek Tower will always be taller than the other rides, allowing us to see everything. That is the one downfall to Cedar Point. Rides go higher than their observation tower and you don't feel like your above the park. Just a small thing to be happy about.
You are correct, just keep up to date with the agenda's of the Plan Commision / Village Bored with imformation of both GAm and Majestic Springs, and imformation will be posted, espically if there is water park expantion, due to zoning, just keep up to date. http://www.gurnee.il.us
