Actually it is 16. And what you just said to do is illegal. I hope you didn't do that for this site. You obviously don't understand the seriousness of lying about personal information.

There are laws, yes, laws that require any website that requests personal information (including but not limited to email, name, address, phone number) to require you to be at least 13 years of age or have parental permission to register on their website. You will get into trouble if (most likely a deleted account) if you are found to have lied about your age. It is not taken lightly as the website creator(s) could get into trouble if they knowingly allowed you to continue to be registered there. Did you ever get parental permission before getting a MySpace? I doubt it. Were you 18? I really don't know. But I doubt it considering you mentioned that you have to lie in order to register. Why would you bother finding that out if you really were 18? And how exactly are you allowed to change it in the site? What does that statement mean? Why am I asking so many questions?

Actually That's completly legal. There are laws that state you do not have to give personal information over the internet. In fact, except in the case of pornography, it is perfectly legal to lie about your age on the internet.

I meant there are laws that affect the website owners/operators, not the end user. Although I know MySpace will delete accounts if the user lied about their personal information including posting photos of other people.

Are you saying you can lie about age or just change it when you turn one year older? It will update your age automatically for you on your birthday. So, whatever you mean, there's no need to change your age.

Obviously you have to enter this information yourself. It's not like MySpace has access to Social Security records to enter all this for you. Just because you can say something like
So, yeah, a little bit a about me. Let's see...I'm some age, that's a whatever at whatever school in anywhere USA.
doesn't mean you are supposed to lie about it.
