The Freak Show

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Yeah so I'm on my dinner break from the first day of fright fest (in park food=$$$) and I just wanted to say how freaking aweome the freak show is this year.

They got this new guy who can do a whole slew of very freaky things. I don't want to go into too much detail because I want you all to see it for yourself, but his finale trick is one of the rarest freak show acts and its flippin' sweet.

I'd recommend seeing the freak show when its darker out though, the fire and electricity tricks tend to show up better when there's less light.

I noticed that it uses the "We got the beat" set, which just made me laugh.

With all due respect to the "freaks"...they work very hard and definetly do some things I wouldn't try doing... but it seems the shows aren't getting any better and aren't as good as years past.

I remember a few years ago they had T2, the fella with no eye. That was sweet. In fact that year was the best I've seen.

This year is a repeat of last year's pretty much, with a new host who I'll admit is a great addition. But in years past there have been SEVERAL characters. Were there just less freaks available for columbus day or is that the extent of the show this year?

Also...when they used to have it in a small tent the atmosphere was so much better. I'm sure folks complained about it being too small for a crowd but that just made me go back later in the day and get there earlier.

What does everyone else think?

Has anyone seen the giant pumpkin carver, on the stage usually occupied by the Jug o' Jugglers? He's really interesting to watch, and does some amazing stuff.

The jug o jugglers are now the jugglers of death they are hidden in the stage inside the mooseburger lodge, TALENTED. The guy who carves pumpkins, boring, but still talented. The Elvis guy...why do they still employ him? The jugglers of death should totally be on that stage, not ELVIS of all acts... Manny B definately deserves the big stage, they've got skills.

Anyways, back to the freak show:

T2 was a lucky shot, he happened to be in the chicago for a few weekends that year, same goes for the guy who balanced the lawnmower on his chin and had people throw lettuce at it. Come to think of it, yeah, that year was really good for the freak show. I was more-so comparing this year to last year. I think they'll have a few more freaks show up as the weekends go on. Freaks tend have their circuses or bands they travel in, its hard to steal them together sometimes.

Actually I heard, (From a random person in line, and not a reliable source at all) that the park doesn't want elvis back next year. Didn't give a reason.

The current members of the Freak Show are in town on a break from the Chris Christ / Ward Hall "World of Wonders" Palace of Illusion show. Prof. Chumley and Ses Carny just got in from the East coast to spend the month doing Fright Fest for us. You can see a little more about that show and the world of freak performers at:

THanks Ruk. That site is incredible. Again I am not ripping on the show this year, I just hoped there was a few more freaks there like years past. Guess I'll just have to keep going and hope for the best.

Bring on Nippolini!!!

The pumpkin carver was much better a few years ago. They had a guy with a British accent who, in addition to carving pumpkins, played the guitar. He was a big Red Sox fan and would say "security" into his microphone if anyone said anything good about the Yankees.

The guy they have this year just sits there and carves pumpkins.

OK yeti now I know what you are talking about after Friday night. I am not weak in the stomach at all when it comes to this stuff.. heck I even have a smile on my face when the Professor (I love him) is breaking through his four layers of skin but the last act from Ses Carny almost made me pass out. It was awesome though

I love what he said after... I do this for all of you sick freaks out there.

I have a picture of Ses Carny's Eyes if ya know what I mean. He called me out for my camera, then told me not to worry he'd let me know when the Kodak moment had arrived. The end result was an awesome front row picture.

My friends are on board for the 4 hour trip this weekend because they want to staple a dollar to the midget.

This is my first time seeing it and i thought it was the best part of fright fest. I actually stapled a dollar to a person, i never thought i would be able to do that, it was great  . It also managed to make my girlfriend sick, who has a sick passion with blood and guts. That says it all right there.

I stapled a dollar last year but he was just using a regular stapler... I noticed this year he has a staple gun  I don't think I could do that.

Is it me or is that guy this year really creepy...?

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
