I'm in 8th grade and for my class trip, i wanted to try to go to SFGAm (i go to a small school, no classic washington DC) Anyways, do you know how i could get this arranged. It has to be educational so maybe on math and physics days or something?
i'm rocking the suburbs, just like quiet riot did...

Will never fly with you admin, no matter how educational it is. My suggestion is try at the end of the school year. Thats when most schools go just for the heck of it.

I went to Westfield Middle School last year, and we went to SFGAm for a graduation trip. :D It was really fun!!! Admission was $25, but I had a season pass anyway. Maybe your school could do that...

You can try your hardest to make a trip to great america educational, but the real reason why people go is to mess around. You cant take a class to great america to teach them somthing, you take them there for a graduation party to have fun, and not to be tought usless physics facts. If you school is small i doubt they would have the funds to hire all the busses to ship you all off to great america even if you all paied your way, but i highly a bunch of 8th graders parents are about to pay $45 for their children to learn at great america, considering they can do the same in the local sience musseum.

I'll say this AGAIN for JGSixflags  : when I went on my 8th grade trip, everyone paid $25 to get in. If you had a season pass you could use it!!! My school wasn't THAT big either, but they managed to get all 250 8th graders on buses and go to SFGAm.

I heard you the first time, but since the admission has hiked this year it would be more along the lines of $30-$35 still a lot of money. Why pay that much when you could pay $5 and go to the local sience musseme?

Lets keep in mind that your 8th grade trip was a graduation event, not an educational experience. If any one wants to go to great america for educational purposes get you school to plan an a visit during the phys weekend in may.

You can find the 2004 physics packet here: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatamer ... nual04.pdf

There is also a session for students on the science and engineering of rides. Riders can even wear a vest that provides them with data at the end of the ride telling where and how much force was applied to their body at different points throughout the ride.

You can find the 2005 physics days information here: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatamer ... sics05.pdf

Obviously, there is updated material for 2006. Call the park in the spring sometime (I would say around March) and request information. But it's worth showing your teacher this stuff now. Also, physics days are geared more towards high school students, but I'm sure some simple physics (neglect friction, basically just figure out average speed during the entire ride, etc.) could be used to make it educational. And it would be very beneficial to be able to find simple things like speed, etc. before entering a physics classroom when you're in high school.
