It was major fun. I remember being dragged off that to the Demon for my first ride on that. I remember seing park maps and such in the middle of the Track, it was similar to waterslide track.

Well, you probably wouldn't have fit in the car/sled as an adult.....every grown up I knew had their knees banged on the edge of the car....to tall.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!

ride was fun, though when it went into the block brakes, there would be some very violent jarring, also the seats were quite small, almost sitting on the floor.
The ride currently operates (though with new cars) at Great Escape in New York.

Rolling Thunder was a cool ride while it was freely moving through the course, but the transitions back into tracked sections were violent and painful. The seating was also uncomfortable, as has been mentioned. You sat very low to the ground and were prone to banging knees, and shins when the car locked back into the track. I thought it was an okay ride, but nothing to be overly missed. I also couldn't even imagine riding it now that I'm at my full height of 6'2". My legs would get torn to hell. That ride definitely seemed more friendly to the shorter rider.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.
I thought that Rolling Thunder was a FUN ride. It was especially so during chilly weather. The cars seemed to ride higher up the sides of the trough when weather was cold. I admit the transitions into the block brakes were a bit rough, but I always enjoyed the ride. It was at the park from 1989 to 1995. Viper was constructed behind Rolling Thunder, and for the 1995 season, their entrances were side by side, right where the entrance to Southwest Territory is now. All in all, it was a quirky, but fun ride, and I feel it was the best of the Intamin bobsleds I rode. And, it had a short height restriction, so it became my nephew's first big coaster ride!Incidentally, Rolling Thunder's cars were the first project by Bolliger and Mabillard!!!
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!
