110% Commited

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Drkstarboard on September 2nd, 2005, 4:01 pm
After every ride, the employees alsways end with" Thanks for Riding _____. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day here at Six Flags Great America where we are 110% committed to you Playtime."

Now my question is, what has SFGAm done in the past (or to presant day) to where they aren't so committed (it can be anything)

Mine is: not opening V2 for 5 weeks straight.

And it's the op's fault?

Rides aren't perfect they all have their flaws....

Yep let's open a topic that essentially makes fun of something all the posters love enough to check up on all day. That sounds like a good idea.

And also it's 100% commited to your playtime. Why do they say it? Because Kieren Burke sent a video which outlines the new slogan, employees are supposed to wear the buttons and say it. It's part of their job, it's one of the rules. This is truly the most pointless topic I've ever seeen.

it's 100% but they say 110%. also I didn't ask why they said it. I was wondering what has been done in the past all the way to presant day that hasn't fit your "Playtime"

Yes I understand that all rides have flaws and no it's not the op's fault (i didn't say it was in the first place). But they could work on it everyday to fix it.

Deja Vu being closed, especially for a few hours in the morning if it's the first thing I run to when the park opens...

There was once when I heard an op say 110%.

They are waiting on a part from Intamin. How are they supposed to work on it any faster if they don't have the parts to do so?

Getting rid of Sky Whirl. It was a great ride for everyone.

I have heard the ops at Whirligig, Jester's Wild Ride and Orbit say it.

'On the last train ride or the first dispatch they should give repeat rides.'

First dispatch, No they shouldn't, Line will allready be forming so no reason to, Last ride though is always nice thing to do, It does not hurt anyone...Ant a lot of times they do this, Atleast of the 4-5 times I have had the last train on Raging Bull, I have gotten a 2nd ride 1/2 the time. It is always a great crowd pleasure, makes everyone happy, thats for sure.

Yeah, twice this year on Deja Vu for the last train they let us have a re-ride, but thats only if we start chanting "one more ride".

How do seatbelts hinder you 'playtime'. It's a safety device. Do the lapbars on Raging Bull hinder your playtime? No, because without them you would be dead.

I mean, sometime people bring up some of the stupidest things on here. I'm not trying to start a flame war, but how in the hell do seatbelts on carisole make the ride suck? How many time a year do you even ride it? Once? What in the hell were you doing on that ride that seatbelts would hinder? If you were doing stupid stuff on the ride, then good riddens. Hope the park ejects you and revokes your season pass.

They are for little kids in case they fall off it will restrain them from falling off the ride. The ride is for all ages.

I've always thought the seatbelts on the Carousel were a bit awkward to use. And I don't think they'd really hold you in. You'd just sort of fall sideways with a strap stuck around your waist that would probably leave a mark from the weight of your entire body on the flimsy strap. They are there for the same reason that all the other flats and Whizzer got them. So that if you decide to jump off your horse and onto the ground, get your foot stuck on the underside of the carousel and get dragged halfway around by your toes before the operator sees you and E-Stops, you can't sue the park because YOU took off your seatbelt.

Seatbelts on the carousel are very dangerous.

It's far safer to fall off the horse that it is to fall then get caught up in the seatbelt and be repeatedly bashed against the floor by the motion of the horse (amusing for onlookers, yes, safe not even close), not to mention all the pinch points under the horse where the pole goes up and down out of the floor.

I don't entirly agree with that one, say you ended up on the 2nd to last train, and see that the last train got to go twice....that would hinder my "playtime" because I would be banned from the park for kickin the ops a$$ because I waited in line just as long as the folks on the last train.

This made me remember something somebody said when I was last at the park. I heard that there's some bar or something of that sort that keeps the restraints from opening up if it somehow gets unlocked while the ride is in motion. Is this true?

Well, the only way that the restraints on Shockwave could be unlocked from the control panel is when the ride is actually in the station. The device that unlocks them is ONLY in the station. If the train gets stuck on the lift or any of the brake blocks and the ride has to be evacuated because they can't fix the problem is manually with a tool that goes into the hole that the device in the station does, and then you can only unlock them 2 at a time(the seats next to eachother). And I am pretty sure it's like that on all coasters at SFGAm. Shockwave just happened to be the one I operated, therefore I know more about that one than the others.
