I don't understand how this will make it go faster. The number of trains is independent of the speed of the ride. Plus the ride has no trim brakes anywhere to adjust.
I say tear down stupid superman and put back up shockwave, it had a bunch of inversions, and i had a nice first drop. who cares if it was a little rough. If you cant handle it well dont ride it, shockwave is much better than whizzer. I dont see why shockwave was sacrificied instead. Bring back shockwave!
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.
It was sacrificed because it was a wreck in the weeks before it's removal. Too many things had gone wrong. Public outcry was not the reason Whizzer was spared.
Galvan316 wrote:You know for someone named Sfaddiction, you sure have alot of Cedar Point refrences in your post.
lol! I was thinking the same EXACT thing! I would change NOTHING. (besides some paint)
All of that you put would make Great America into a Cedar Point twin. We don't want that!
Why remove Cajun, Iron Wolf, and AE? There's no point or reason. AE is a favorite of many and it's still a great woodie.
What you said about Viper's exit/ HH exit thing was just absurd.
I also think a 3rd train for S:UF wouldn't help much because the trains would just all get stacked up (It's a flyer so it takes longer to load, no way to avoid that).
Correct aero, despite many people thinking this... Six Flags didn't spare Whizzer just because of a PR nightmare (although it's great publicity). I've also heard Shockwave was giving GAm many, many problems in its last year.
If you think about it, Cedar Point copied SFGAm by puting in Wicked Twister. V2 came first in 2001. Then in 2002, Wicked Twister came along and beat V2's height and speed (not by much speed but still). Cedar Point built a V2 clone with two twisted towers (that are taller then V2's) and faster. Don't get me wrong. Wicked Twister is an awsome ride and an awsome addition to the Cedar Point's "Fearsome Five".
400th post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu
SFaddiction84 wrote:American Eagle: Tear it down, create a new themed area, add new coasters/shops/flats and stuff
No way, Jose! That coaster resembles the character of County Fair and it happens to be my favorite wooden coaster. It ain't goin' down anytime soon!

On the contrary, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Then they can put all the blue colored railings and bars on Microsoft Paintbrush and change it red with the click of a mouse. Then put the queue indoors to add more theming, such as the Superman cartoon atmosphere and lifelike characters. And then they could completely re-do the coaster after the pretzel loop, which is all but BORING! Why not add a corkscrew element followed by a bunny hop or two? Now how's THAT?
Iron Wolf isn't the best but is still considered a keeper, but they need to remove the stupid FastLane ego and return the front-row assigned line to speed the loading.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.
Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."
I love all your changes Mr. SFGAm. I think that's all we actually really need.
I agree with you also Mr. D. T. I can't imagine Great AMERICA without the AMERICAn Eagle. That roller coaster has been a symbol for Great America for decades. Everyone looks at the people dropping when going down Washington. I just couldn't imagine it not being there.
You're entitled to your own opinion, but I like V2 better than Wicked Twister. As for Raging Bull, the trims are on the camelback to prevent too much stress on the wheel assembly/car frame. Same with the MCBR. American Eagle does need some serious renovation. If necessary, completely rebuild the helix. This obviously won't happen, but I'd like to see it run like it did back in the 1980s.
As for Viper, it's fine. Instead, you'd have to walk down the Hurricane Harbor exit, then end up at the entrance to Southwest Territory and have to walk further that you do now to get to the center of Southwest Territory. You walk several miles each day while at the park, a few hundred feet shouldn't hurt.
I don't understand what you mean by adding a third train on Superman. Each train would go faster, or more trains would be cycled through per hour? If you mean more trains per hour, I don't think it would make much of a difference, if any.
Iron Wolf. Ragin' Cajun. Remove these? Why? So that we end up with nothing in its place? (See below.)
Another DejaVu!!! Why?! That would be like having two Raging Bulls. Wouldn't you rather have a completely different coaster altogether? Not to mention we'll just end up with not one, but two Vekoma lawn ornaments sitting in our park. Although it has been much more reliable this year.
American Eagle: It's a classic. It's as good as Viper, and the backwards side is unique. My changes: The queue is just too long. The queue should be revamped into just a straight walkup like Viper is now. Remove the "tent" (because that portion of the que will never be used again). They can use the rails for future queues. remove Wascal's and now you've go a decent space to work with. Take back Sky Whirl (it's for sale on ITAL, right?) and locate it there. It fits in with the "county fair" theme, and is good for families. As for the ride itself, get new trains, and remove the buzz bars (if possible). If not, at least fix the broken seats.
Batman the Ride: Paint the track black again, but it should have a rusted look to it as it used to. However, the RAILS should be yellow. It's more like the batman logo. Bring back the queue graffiti. The ride could also use some batman theming, not just the police car. Theme the outside area ("Gothan City") with mvie posters. It the batcar still there?
Déjà Vu: If Vekoma could get their act together and do this, it would rock. However, I believe Vekoma just couldn't pull this off. First off, drop the v-shaped seating arrangement. The restraints should be pnuematic like Intamin, because the racheting restrains leave too much room whic is uncorfortable for some on the first tower. Next, have a dual station (tranfer track) like Mr. Freeze. Fix the vallying problem. Also, a larger crw would be nice. Other than that (which is quite a lot) the ride is fine.
Demon: Bring back the old theming as many have suggested. However, if S&S Arrow were willing to do so, I would like to see the "Turn of the Century" airtime hills return. Replace the corckscrews with new Arrow track. Put new trains on. Most wooden rides are "good" rough, but Demon is not. That would make the ride great again.
Iron Wolf: New B&M trains as others mentioned. Refurbish the rough spots. Remove the "please remain seated" message. Add some wolf theming.
Ragin' Cajun: As mentioned, put some shade on the queue. I can't see any other improvments that are doable.
Raging Bull: Fix the broken seats. Lighten the trims as much as can be done with causing a mechanical problem. Also, removed the second queue house and the food stand by it, and a flat ride could be put in there. Extend the "underground" tunnel.
Superman- Ultimate Flight: Fix the broken seat. Other than that, all it needs is a bigger crew.
Vertical Velocity: I like the previously mentioned tunnel on the lunch strip idea. Keep the straight tower, the pause is really cool. The towers are beginning to need a new paint job, because the extra support does not match the original support. More crew here also.
Viper: Those seat belts are awful! Straighten out the seatbelts. It's fine otherwise, though it could use a new spiel mentioning the seatbelts.
Whizzer: I wouldn't dare mess with it.
Other ideas for improvment:
-I notice Raging Bull has a security guard now. More of these would halp deter smoking in line and line jumping. The Batman crew needs to monitor the cameras and try to catch smokers. It's bad in the sewer when people smoke.
-Acquired more land around the area and expand.
-Alter the railway to stop in Southwest Territory and Hurricane harbor.
-This one I previously thought of for Cedar Point and Cedar Fair, but it could also work at the Six Flags parks. Drop the TVs in the queues, and cut an agreement with XM Satellite Radio (NOT Sirius). Each queue and section of the park should have a different channel playing. The queues with TVs could display the Channel Name, Artist Name, and Song Title. (There is a video-output on one of the current recievers that does so.) For example, the southwest could play one of the country channels, such as America, Nashville, or what I think would work best, Hank (traditional country). Batman and/or Superman could play Cinemagic, the movie soundtrack channel. This list goes on.
The park should also install what are know as "terrestrial repeaters". (For those who are unfamilliar with the technology, I can explain. Satellites can broadcast one signal over the whole country, but they can be blocked, unlike "regular" radio. With XM2go (portable) recievers, the antenna is not very strong. "Repeaters" broadcast the signal like "regular" radio so the signal is rarely lost. However the signal only broadcasts to a relatively small radius.) This would both entertain guests and help XM, which is the future of radio. (You can find me on XM411.com, the best XM forum online. There are some REALLY nice people there, and there store has unbelievable customer service.) [/tangent]
