Revamping Batman

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SixFlagsChick on August 2nd, 2005, 10:01 am
Well- I know that I may be much older than the average SFGAmer... but I remember the opening year of BTM at SFGAm and I can honestly say the theming is in a serious state of disrepair. I remember when the fog machine would be going hardcore and you couldnt even see a foot infront of you when you entered the "batcave". The police car is really rusty and everything just looks beat up and old. And I miss the graffiti on the walls!

I wonder if SFGAm is going to spruce up the old batcave anytime soon?

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

SFGAm purposley removed the graffitti and tamed down the theming to provide for a better family enviornment. It's probably just going to get worse, not better.

ok nvm... i was hoping to generate some discussion on suggestions and whatnot that could possibly be presented to the park staff...but it seems most people feel nothing will be done regardless.

It would be nice to see some kind of attempt to make the theming a lil better now that BTM is a national landmark.

I'll say one thing they need to do something about the underground que line to make it more enjoyable and less boring since i used to look at the grafitti, but now you can just look at the ride go by.

thank you! I agree! Definately need something cooler to look at.

The grafitti there wasnt a bad thing anyway... it would be cool if they did a grafitti mural of sorts. Those are considered artwork nowdays.

National Landmark?

Last time I checked, it's an ACE Coaster Landmark. National Landmarks are historic structures, places and things. Of which Batman The Ride is NONE of those.

Theming is dead in the Six Flags corportate world at the moment. Nothing will be done. It's just a line on a budget that can be cut VERY easily.

The smoke in the tunnel was bothering guests allergies, and the darkness was contributing to falls and accidents. Those were GUEST complaints. Thank other guests for the removal of that stuff, don't blame the park.

ok im just gonna shut up and ask this topic be closed... I guess I messed up on some facts and I apologize. I didnt mean national landmark...it was just a brain fart.

its a shame that such good theming went to waste... it was great when it first opened. I still think the grafitti art mural would be worth the time and effort.

No need to close this topic.

This year I have been to different forums when people will bring up this topic. Apparantly this isn't the only BTR that got its theming removed. Most of them or all have been removed (SFMM, SFGAdv, SFGAm, etc.).

Also some people think that BTR will be rethemed soon later down the years to the new Batman movies coming out. I believe BTR theming didn't come from the movie, but from the comic book I believe? Most of the theming that was removed went to other SF parks to currently newer BTR (SFOT or SFNO). Well SFNO BTR has the clean theming and SFOT has a different theming from the previous BTR.

DC Comics just recently rethemed everything they have, sooner or later SF will retheme all the DC Comics characters if they want to. BTR at SFMM is already playing the Batman Begins soundtrack in their queue.

Too bad SFA doesn't have a BTR. Can anybody get any pictures on how the theming looks now in the queue? Thanks.
I don't know ALL the Facts!!!!!!

I agree. Batman is no longer the dark knight at SFGAm, he's the yellow knight. Six Flags really needs to make the queue look crappier if you know what I mean. More fog would be sweet, and at SFStL they had a track playing that sounded like a big mob fight near the police car.

I don't see Batman as a "family" ride anyways. It definitely should have more "dark" and "creepy" themeing. Gotham City is supposed to be creepy and scary and ridden with criminals. If it wasn't, what's the point of Batman?!

I too miss the fog.. Six Flags needs to wake up and see that Batman isn't the most "family" ride there. Families shouldn't expect Gotham City to be like Gurnee or something.

Not so much... those pics of the Golden Kingdom at SFGAdv looked pretty impressive to me.

It is hard to say if SF will ever update the BTR theming, although I do wish they would do something new with it.
Finally Coaster Season!!

That's something SF can do well...yes I agree BTR needs some better theming, and maybe a new paint job, the yellow paint is pealing alot and the dark navy blue paint is scratched, or pealing....

^And Timmy, that's your que.

I agree with all your posts. They damaged Batman quite a bit. The graffiti didn't even look like "normal" ugly graffiti. They had a pretend mickey mouse, American flag, Go cubs, Go Sox, Bears, Bulls, and two funny characters. You can still see the Joker saying on the wall if you look hard enough. Now, it just looks so boring.

^I agree...the theme of BTR brought the excitement to the ride. Im not sure but didnt Batman The Ride when an award for best theme on a ride??? I read that somewhere it was a while ago. However, they can change the theme back to Yankee Harbor and take out the "Batman theme outside the ride such as the restrooms etc. ( but I dont want to get started on that ).

Off the subject does Cedar Point have any good theme to their park? If so what is it?

^ I completely agree with retheming everything outside of Batman. It would be like Superman in Orleans Place...the ride doesn't really fit the theming like Raging Bull and Viper do, but it would be much better than it is now.

even ragining bull is a lil lacking on the themeing.... I dont know... The building where the platform is looks cool though.

I dont know.... The best themed area in the park is prolly Batman even in the state that it is now.... Definately one of my favorite Que lines to go through. Gets me excited every time I get in line!

I don't mean theming on the ride itself, I just mean that Raging Bull and Viper are both themed to Southwest Territory, whereas Batman has nothing to do with Yankee Harbor in any way. Get it?

Vertical Velocity can be renamed and themed to Tidal wave ::suggestion::
