Z Force

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Coaster Alex0805 on July 19th, 2005, 8:51 am
An Intamin Spice Diver coaster, the only one ever made. It started out at Six Flags Great America which Operated from 1985 to 1987. But was taked down due to the parks stand up coaster. Even though Iron Wolf wasnt built until 1990! Well after leaving Six Flags Great America it went to Six Flags Over Georgia there it Operated from 1988 to 1990 then left that park for there new ride Ninja. Finally, it was moved to Six Flags Magic Mountain, where it did operate, only under the name "Flashback".
Its current status at the park is Operating since 4/25/1992, SBNO since 2003!!!!

I have seen pictures of this ride and it looks preety fun!

RCDB has this about it:The Flashback is generally closed from May to September when the adjacent water park is open. Even outside of these times the Flashback's operation is very sparse.

During the waterpark's 2003/2004 off-season, the Flashback never operated. So it has been given a SBNO status until things change.

Could Flashback (Z Force) be the next Six Flags Great America Ride to go? Even though it was totaly at a differnt park!?

Since SFMM is almost completley about records, it's probably not going anywhere unless they can somehow fit two coasters in that tiny area.

Does SFMM even look Nice? as far as theme and appearence, or are they more worried about how many coasters they have

^It's covered with LOTS of trees and until their new coaster came along they had some pretty nice gardens near the hill of death...

Yeah, they are basically keeping Flashback because not much can fit into its place and they just want to say they have the most coasters.

Why doesn't anyone like Magic Mountain? Every time I've gone there I've had the time of my life and have found nothing wrong with it (well...Superman I haven't been able to ride yet, but still). It's an awesome place to be. Not to mention it's very hot (yay!).
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

the only reason Flashback is there is to keep their coaster count up. Don't count on it opening again.

Then technically wouldn't that not be counted?

thats bull...
wouldnt they just take it down and then build another coaster to please their guests...

what good is having a coaster if the guests cant ride it...

i would be ticked if GA kept a coaster up just for park records...i would want a new ride...

anyone agree?

of course people agree....but do you think SFMM cares? Taking it down and building a new coaster to retain the coaster count costs money...I just don't think they will be taking it down soon. SFMM calls themselves an "xtreme park" and they need to have the longest list of coasters they possibly can, no matter what their statuses are.

As unfortunate as that sounds, it's 100% true. But, I think Flashback may still run at least once or twice.

Yeah, if they test it a few times a year it is considered to be operating. Whoever said it is never going to open again, is just making this up assuming Magic Mountain is a complete ghetto because he more then likely has never been there but it is not. I'll be my life on it that guests take rides on Flashback again at Magic Mountain

I could be mistaken but I thought I read somewhere that SFMM has removed the motor and power to the ride! If I can find the link I'll post it. This tells me that it will probally be removed in the near future.
Waiting to fill this space with something stupid to say!

I loved SFMM when I went there in 2002. I guess Im one of two people that like it but thats cool. The park was beautiful when I went but I dont know what it looks like now. Anyways I was able to ride Flashback a couple times in a row and it was pretty fun. I hope it opens soon especially since Im going there over my winter break. One can only dream right?

The coaster pretty much sucked when it was here at SFGAm.

Ever wonder why only one of these was ever made? Was at SFMM this past February and of course Flashback was not operating. It looked like complete crap to with the fading paint and rust forming.

Also the Sky Tower was not working and also looked like complete crap. The monorail was also down and that thing looks like a product of the 70's.

While SFMM has some decent coasters, they really need to focus on some of the other aspects of the park like getting those 3 rides up and running, getting more flats because that park lacks flats bigtime and building some form of transportation around the park. As hilly as that park is, guests would appreciate some form of ride that can take them from the bottom of the mountain up to the top in the back of the park.

Ever wonder why SFMM offered that you buy a one day ticket and get a season pass for free? Only reason can be due to attendance declines. I spent $47.99 on a SFMM season pass which I used for 2 days in the park and am now utilizing it for this season at SFGAm.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Z-Force was a GREAT ride. I and my friends always enjoyed it. It certainly was a quirky ride, but enjoyable, and it had a wonderful upward helix turn at the end. Magic Mountain has let it go to waste...the last time I was there, the ride was filthy..like it hadn't been cleaned or painted for years. Great America never let its rides look as bad as Magic Mountain does. I say let's bring it back here, and it would run great again! And it could fit just about anywhere, maybe in County Fair or Southwest Territory. At the time it was built in 1995, Six Flags had a "ride Rotation" program, and Z-Force was designed for that. So let's rotate it back to Illinois, before it falls into the ground in California!:)
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!

^I don't know if he just made a typo, but Z-Force was built in 1985. 1995 was the year of Viper!
