Eagle question

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Simple question

Was on eagle for the first time this year, and because my friends wanted to we ended up on the backwards side. Now I was expecting that right before going into the big helix we would be braked like mad, and the red car would shoot ahead, but to my surprise this didn’t happen. Instead we just continued to pick up speed and flew through the rest of the ride. It turned out to be my best eagle ride in years and we even went back and rode again. My question is do they normally not have that brake on now, or did I just get lucky?

I noticed that yesterday (Sunday) also. On all my previous AE-B rides this season the red train always has pulled away quickly at the helix. Yesterday on all three rides we "raced" for much longer than usual.

it's a better ride now, the two coasters really race now and i've seen some of the closest races i've ever seen on that ride. I like it now!

depends on the forcasted weather for the day, Eagle has the ability to have the brakes easily adjusted daily by maintaince.

Wow, i've never gotten to go on a non-braked Eagle ride. Sounds awesome.

For me, either it's trimless up at the top of the helix, or I'll get stopped for 10-30 seconds. Going through the helix without the trims up top is fun, but rough. Either way, it doesn't bother me. You get trimmed up top, then you wont get and trim on the exit of the helix. You don't get trim breaks up top, then you will get trimmed heavily at the bottom. They never let you get going too fast.

like others have said, it depends on the weather. I personally like getting trimmed on the top of the helix and not on the exit - that way the helix is a little smoother and at least I think you get more air on the bunny hills on the return trip.

Amazing thing was we weren't trimmed at the bottom either

On one of our two rides the blue car actaully got to the end first even!

Last time i went(couple weeks ago) i got a few aeb rides with no trims on the helix, like someone just said its fun but rough, mostly fun.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.

I got on Blue three times today without even having to move from my seat, and I can proudly say that we won once! The first was a complete loss by like 30 seconds, and the last was close. It was fun though because we had a true race most of the time. I couldn't believe, though, that the Red side was so much more crowded than Blue. Oh well, better for me! Also, the trims weren't too bad at the top of the helix. I've never been stopped exiting it, so I don't know what you guys are talking about there. Heavy braking though before the last small helix. Kinda ruined it. Go AE!

yea, I have noticed that too, on May 30th when I rode AEb they trimmed it at the top of the helix, and as usual red shot ahead, however blue has won before, to me it seems that they like to change it up every so often, so the win isn't that predictable.
speaking of AE, has anyone noticed that the first car of the red train jumps when going up the lift? that's like cheating, to get a head start, plus it seems that red goes up faster than blue... :?
