I miss the shockwave alot. That was the first ride I ever rode on when I was 7 ( first time I went to the park.) Wasn't shockwave the worlds tallest rollercoaster at one time. Well if it was cool 8) . Hay what was the Sky whirl like. I wanted to ride it two years ago but it was closed because of DV. :(

Shockwave was the talllest coaster when it first opened. Sky Whirl was a big ferris wheel tha had three huge arms with lots of fingers on it. yhe buckets hung off of the fingers. two arms would be up in the air at once and one would be on the gorund loading or unloading people. The two arms in the air had their fingers spinning. It was a relaxing ride. If you search for old park maps on the net to see what it looks like.

Well, hay was what was in the middle of Hay Bayler. But anyways, the Sky Whirl was a nice ride, for 4 or 5 rotations. Then you'd be bored, for about 20 minutes. It looked great at the park, and on the skyline, but the ride was boring. Some people loved it because of the 'privacy' you got, even though everyone in the other buckets on your arm could see you.

I think coasterzak was just kidding (J/K) when he stated half of Shockwave was going to another park.

The Picnice Grove is used for private parties on a monthly basis and for Fright fest every year  . They aren't taking it out for a coaster  . And I'm not even going to comment on the games and recording thing except if they did build a coaster there how would you get through  ?

I love it when they have Necropolis in Pinic Grove during Fright Fest. I really like the Mausoleum of Terror. I wish I could get scared at least once when I walk through it. I love seeing my friends faces as we walk through. :D . I wish it was free. Both of CP's haunted houses are free and I heard that they are a lot better that the MoT. Anyway did any of you like it when they had Brutal Planet in PG. I sure didnt.

That was really stupid. First they made the haunted house Brutal Planet then the next yer they made the whole thing brutal planet and broght back MoT. Then finally those reatrds figured out no one likes Brutal planet and brought back the god old stuff. This year Nercopolis was as good as it was back in the mid 90's. If anyone saw the weed wacker guy and went up to him and talked to him you know what I'm talking about  . He said some things that I can't say on these boards. Lets just say he likes to talk about people "WACKING." I think you know what I mean now. IM me and I'll tell you all the things this funny guy said.Well back on Topic  ......... I hope Shockwave gets a new home anywhere.

Yeah I was kidding. There was a rumor floating around for a while that it was going to two different parks, but it was only a joke. See, because it was such a massive ride, people made it up, thinking that splitting it was enough for 2 coasters. Maybe it'll go to SFGAdv, they have GASM and all.

I want to make it this year to GADv, but I have never been there. I hear it is a great park though. I have a video from the Rob Alvey website that I like to watch a lot.

The Picnic Grove IS a huge waste of space. They could get along with 2/3 of what is back there. You would be hard to find any other park with that much real estate closed off for private functions. Thats what makes SFGAM so endearing is that it was built unlike most other parks. Also, you need to remember the old diving pool area is also now considered "Private Functions Area" If they had to or WANTED to they could have easily carved into some of that to build another coaster, especially a flyer.Secondly, there is a good chunk of land BEHIND where Rapids and the aforementioned recording studio/games are. When it comes time to expand again (and SFGAM is nice enough not to rip anything else out)they might need to decide what they rather not build out into, what is more valuable, the parking lot or that chunk of land on the east side of orleans place.

Roll your eyes all you want.. I have seen the park grow over the last 20 years. Do you remember when everyone thought SFGAM was going to get the Ninja? Do you remember when everyone thought Shockwave was going to have water under it?Considering today's management is different due to a vastly different presence of coporate oversight and procedure, I am not implying that it should be easy to guess what SFGAM next moves will be. I do know however that spots which have always been brought up as expansion areas [that still don't have a new rollercoaster on them] are now - - - > (drum roll please) Southeast end of park, I.E. Wilderness Theater/Picnic Grove & East Side of park along employee drive. A private festival area could be anywhere, much easier to locate than say a flying coaster. Its not that I am advocating they expand into said areas. Just that, that is a realistic planning scenario. If I was the RCT tycoon and needed to make quick decisions, I probably would have kept Shockwave around a little longer, scrapped Iron Wolf, put S:UF where Iron Wolf was, and then for my next coaster replace Shockwave with a new floorless. Floorless coasters, in theory, require a much larger tract than a flyer. Exactly what the Shockwave area is. Superman would have rocked back where Iron Wolf is - - You think Shockwave is/was rough, gezz Wolf has detieroiated much more quickly than Shockwave ever did.

chimike GAm wouldnt build another flyer because we already have one. We need variety and GAm will be putting in different types of coasters in the future.

How about not destroying anything? SFGAm up until theyear 2000 was VERY good with keeping rides and theming in the park. Since 2001 the park has goe way down hill with keeping its older rides. Since 2001 Cajun Cliff hanger, Hay Baler, Power Dive, The small flats in HTS, the lght house in Yankee harbor (A Mrriott classic) and Sky Whirl and Shock Wave (these 2 rides removals, destroyed ALOT of the skyline) have all been removed. Some, like Power Dive for pointless reasons. I wish SFGAm would reinstall some of these rides! :(
Nothing to see here....

I loved the classic Marriot theming. Now SF is destroying it by taking it out or putting in some crappy SF themeing. Some great rides got taken out and Im still mad about that. I hope SF doesnt turn the park into a whole SF themed park. It would be all this stupid brand new crap that is pointless.

I think chimike meant for superman to be built where IW is not another flyer. I agree that SF has ripped out good flat rides and I am just upset as anybody, but Shockwave didnt have to go in 2002. If you are upset about the HB and SW being taken out you really cant be a big fan of DeJaVu. The Cliffhanger was taken out due to the girl getting injured and Power Dive is gone due to the fact that SF didnt want to staff it. It took three of four people to run the ride properly

I believe the small flats were just moved to the two kid sections of the park, but I could be wrong
