my "lost" and not found experience...

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

It happened towards the end of the season last year about a week before the park closed. I was on V2 and my cell phone flew out of my pocket at about 30 mph and fell onto the concrete area behind the ride. I could clearly identify it as my cell phone and two people saw it fly out of my pocket and land there. I informed one of the ride operators and he told me to go to the lost and found. I was kind of confused at this point as to why I needed to go to the lost and found, but I figured it was some sort of legal issue. I go there and tell them where the phone is and give them the description, and when asked when they'll go get it she said "We'll call you when someone turns it in to the lost and found". That's right, they can't just tell one of the ride operators to go grab it at the end of the day. I have to rely on the chance that maybe one of them will pass by it and return it to the lost and found. I mean, it was stupid of me to lose my phone, but they still shouldn't have been jerks about it and not just gone to get my phone. I called almost every day pleading with the lost and found attendant to tell somebody that my phone was there. I was so sure of it's position I could've given her GPS coordinates. Still no luck, I had to buy a new phone for $80 because the six flags lost and found is too damn lazy to retrieve my phone.

Long story short, I should've jumped the fence and gotten kicked out of the park...

Well, unlike you, I had a great experiance with losing a Cell Phone at
the park.

Last year, As I was leaving from SUF I noticed that I didn't have my Cell
Phone. I went to Lost and Found, told them, gave them the description.
Well, the next day, my mom called me telling me that Six Flags called her
from my Cell Phone.

Well, a few days later I received my Cell Phone in the mail.

When S:UF first opened, my brother underestimated its cell phone losing powers, and I saw it fly out of his pocket into the employee lot. Went and filled out a lost and found report. (lost nad found employees were really nice and porfessional, explaining why we couldnt get it now) and we were told we would recieve a call in the next few days if found. Well, on my way out of the park at around 1030, i decided to ask a security gaurd who was standing ight by the front bathrooms if the employee parking lot was still a secure area now that the ride had been shut down for the night, he radioed his supervisor, and he kindly let me in with him and we found my (rather soggy, but still working) Cell phone.

You have to understand their point of view, and your an idiot for losing your phone on a ride, either get pants that will keep it in, or get a locker.

i lost my cell phone last summer running into the grand music hall. Luckily my phone has a really weird cover, half blue and white, and gray top. I went straight to lost and found, one of the employees had found it, and brought it there right away.

My fiance lost his wallet on Iron Wolf and we never once blamed the park.. once again they are not responsible for our lost items. Luckily we were understanding and patient with the park and recieved his wallet back a few days later. They have areas that they just can not enter while the park is open and that it understandable. Maybe if you had the same attitude that you are showing here with the park they just said forget it. They DON'T have to do anything. They have millions of signs saying that so you really can't blame them!

In the past, park policy was that NO ride operator could go under the ride until the end of the night when the ride was Shut Down.

This year, we were waiting in line for superman an they delayed the trains. Well we noticed 2 ride ops put on there new orange flashy vests and enter underneath the ride to pick up lost cell phones that had collected up until that point. Its very inconvenient when you have been waiting in line and you have to wait.

HAHA Scott...How did I know that once you joined SFGAMWORLD you would tell the imfamous cell phone story? The one I've heard 1000 times. LOL.

Last season my wallet wedged in the seat on Whizzer. I got all the way home and realized I didn't have it. I was freaking out, it had my newly processed Season Pass and everything in it. Well the next day my mom called and an Op and returned it and they mailed it to me. Thank the lord.

I don't blame the park for me losing my cell phone, I'm just saying it would've been nice if they made some effort to get it. Obviously they shouldn't shut down the ride in the middle of the day just for my phone, don't get me wrong. It's just annoying when it is within their ability to retrieve my phone with very little effort on their part, and they just don't do it. That's what pissed me off. It's like having a baseball fly into a neighbors yard. They don't have to give it back, but you'd still think they were a jack ass if they didn't...

edit: Also, I am a very calm and understanding person. I was never hostile with sfga staff until about a week of them taking no action to tell anyone my phone was there.

They may have the ability to get it if they want to, but it is not their reponsibility to get it. You know how many people walk through the park every operating day? Now imagine yourself being asked to go get something a rider lost on the ride (which is the riders fault entirely, not the parks) every other train. You wouldn't want to do it either, nor is it your responsibility to do it. Lost and Found can't spend the entire day wandering the park retrieving the lost items. It's your fault you lost it, its your fault you have to wait for it, not the parks.

I have a very small cell phone and constantly worry about loseing it on rides, I always hold my pocket.

The first time I rode Superman I lost my keys. Not fun being stranded at Six Flags with no keys. Lost and found must have never found them, as I never got them back. Climber hooks are your friends and I hope to get a cord to go on my phone as well.

the key to not loosing anything from your pockets on rides is a ziplock baggies. I put all my stuff credit card wallet, money wallet, keys, Cell phone into a baggie. This makes it impossible for me to loose my stuff including loose change. This also helps if you like water rides from getting all you stuff wet. Its also just a quick check to see if I have my bag instead of me having to remember everything I should have after each ride.

Hrmmm yeaa I have a very lucky story with six flags lost and found.

Last year I got off Raging Bull and noticed my phone wasnt in my pocket... and I knew for a fact it didnt fall out on the ride, but was sitting in my seat when i just walked off. Anyways, since I used to work at SFGAm I had trust I'd get it back, so just went to lost & found, filed a report, and about 3 days later my phone was mailed back to me :)

I also have another story from a few years back-- lost my favorite hat on a ride... filed for it.... and got it back within the week. :)

I guess its more about luck than anything, but I've had great luck and good experiences.
