You are mistaken. The waterpark will open May 28, full operation or not.

The wave pool and atomic coaster pools are already full. Things will really pick up this week. They are working into the night.(ig Skull Island)

I thought at first that you meant concrete but then I realized that they did that more then a week ago.

In building a park, I think the concrete and verticle supports are the hardest, the slides come up in a few hours. It may not look like they've done a lot, but they have (hopefully).

Yes, it wil be ready. They have very little left to do. It's mostly showy stuff that's left that will go up in a few hours. There isn't much left to du but clean up.

I was at SFGAm this morning and there were a TON of people there working hard on HH. With the number of people that they have working on it and if the weather holds out I am sure it will be open in time.

First off, the park absolutely, positively will open on May 28'th come hell or high water (prefably the later), same goes for Media Day on the 25'th.

The slide tower next to the wavepool is complete and was actually running today with water being pumped though and it seemed as though either people or sandbags or something were being sent though the body slides.

Also the wavepool was in the process of being filled(very slow process as they seemed to be using a rather small hose, despite 6 hours of filling that I saw, the water level seemed to barely change at all today)

Family Raft slides are having some problems, and I'd estimate they wont open with the park, though the park is hopeful otherwise. SFGAm is waiting on the raft conveyor and while I wont say here what it is as I dont think it was meant to show up on the net, one of the slides has a relatively serious shortcoming that renders it unusable for the time being (all straight from the Horses Mouth)

Water Play Area looks questionable, does look really cool, but there is really a whole lot that needs to be done (still needs at least a half dozen towers), I'm going to estimate again that this will not be fully ready come opening day (though I suppose they could open what ever is done, as there are 17 independant towers that will be connected with netting, bridges, etc)

All the buildings are prefabricated, all the buildings just need to be assembled on site, so that all goes up really fast, and the largest buildings there seem to be complete on the exterior.

Racers and Hurricane Mountain are physically complete but are getting finishing touches.

And I'd estimate around 40-50% of the pavement in the park is poured.

In all, I think it's going to be pretty close, but it will all come together and eitehr by opening or within a week thereafter the waterpark should be running close to 100%

I know that I'm new here, and I don't want to stir trouble on my first post. However...I have been workign at waterparks for 8 years now...training lifeguards...and I have to say is that at my waterpark which I currently work at...we started trainign our lifeguards last week...and my park is 1/4 the size of HH...I just hadn't heard anone on here yet mention trainign the guards...or balancing the Chems in the pools...

Why wont you tell us? What do you have to lose?

And if you dont wish to tell us what that shortcoming is, could you tell us what slide wont open? Purple or green? Does it have to do with the actual design of the slide? Because if so, (and I am just guessing. If I am way off, just tell me.) it looks like the green one is not safe to run because those banked turns near the end dont have high backed slide sides.

Also, i have a question. The concept art shows a thematic boat by the wave pool and a lighthouse. Will those be built either before hte park opens or later this year, or are those just to spruce things up? I saw a boat sitting behind Giant Drop. Maybe this is a boat that will be placed somewhere in the park to add to the atmosphere? Does anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, after looking at different pictures of the waterpark, I have come to the conclusion that the green family raft slide doesn't have enough banking at the end.

I did however look at the yellow tube slide(6-slide complex) and it appeared to look a little weird.(3rd or 4th piece from top.) Your guess is as good as mine.

BTW, the "boat" behind Giant Drop will be used as theming for HH, along with a lot of other neat things.

I couldnt aggree more. Take a look at the one picture in the Photozone with the purple and green family tube slibe....towards the end of the green one, there is not enough bank. the ride is almost horizontal for to long. unless they incorporate some kinda of water jet to push the raft. ill bet it stops short.

again like what was said above

^ The impression I'm getting is the exact opposite. It sounds like the rafts would be going too fast for the current amount of banking.

o wait your talking banking!!! as in the way the slide is tilted?

your saying the banking isnt enough to support the speed. so the tube could go to high on the turn and go off?

Im sorry i totally mis understood what was being said....anyway

danieln84, banking is when the outside-side of a slide is raised on a curve, since the raft or body will naturally rise up to that side. Sorry, it's kind of hard to explain.

There is nothing wrong with the banking on that slide (either regular friction will keep the boats slow enough to stay on there, or they will add to the side of the trough if needed) I'm not sure which slide has the problem. I guess from what I was told, if you look real close at those slides (in person), and follow each slide from top to bottom you can probably spot the problem if they didnt cover it up with something.

And as far as I know, SFGAm is hiring a fair number of experienced lifeguards, so they dont have to train them from scratch, and we are getting lifeguards from other SF parks to start and train and retrain all the local lifeguards. Seeing as SF owns so many waterpark, the chemical concentrations should be close on their first try (though I wouldnt personally volunteer be the first person to test those waters) :)

They should make it for Media Day on the 25'th, not sure if the family slide will have a fix by them, and I bet the water play area will come really close, though if it misses, I bet they have a second media day just for Skull Island.
