What do you guys/girls think of this ride? I'm not too impressed with it. It just doesn't seem to have enough power and force. An upgrade would be nice. If they did this, it would be stupid to keep it in the same place. Anyway, the colors aren't too pleasing to me either.
I also consider it a hidden ride. Its only when you really turn your head that you see the sign after the bridge. I've also heard on this website that its been breaking down lately? Is this true?
What can I compare it to (one might ask)? Kiddieland's (yes, I said Kiddieland's) scrambler is great. It has a nice color scheme and light scheme, and its fast. I really like the red, white, and blue theme. Maybe, five or ten years ago they changed it from all white lights.

To me, Hometown Fun Machine fits into the area it's in, with teh colors and all, though it is alittle hidden from the midway. Though of course any Scrambler that is not gleaming Silver with White lights looks wrong to me, but I subscribe to the old School of ride decoration
It does run slow and takes forever to accelerate then brake, though the park had pretty major issues with it a few years back and ever since then they have run it that way. I perfer manually operated Scramblers myself like Kiddielands, though at KL they just crank it up to full speed and leave it there for 2 minutes, not exactly model operation for a ride of any type, but with how things are going in the industry, I'll take it just cause it's still manually operated

I think Six Flags intention with this ride is as a family ride so it doesn't operate at a higher speed to keep the forces down.
When I was much younger, traveling carnivals with Scramblers used gas powered tractor engines to run the rides and they ran very fast compared to what you see with the ride at Six Flags.
Just a side note...What they did with the Tilt-A-Whirl rides was really insane with the gas engines. They would "goose" the throttle on it once in awhile which really got the cars spinning. Some of the "operators" were really good at getting you 20 or more revolutions without stopping.
Maybe Six Flags could make a two speed setup with Hometown Fun Machine and run it faster when there were less small children around. Probably not practical but it's an idea anyway.
I like the HTFM even though it could be run faster. I think that its a good ride and even though its hidden it still managed to get longish lines (at least last time I rode it)

Exactally!! That's why I like rides like HFM and Triple Play... they are nice relaxing rides to go on. Fun but not too fast. I like taking breaks on these rides when I need a breather in between coasters.
I hope they get rid of it and Wizzer and put a terrain/woodie in it's place. Otherwise they should stay. I don't think one of the newer flats would fit in it's spot because a lot of the newer ones take up a lot of space.

When I went it stopped a lot quicker, and it seemed a bit faster than last year.
Did you also hear that loud grinding/banging noise it made? We rode it twice opening day, and each time, as the ride was slowing down, it made this loud bang/grind, and then the ride completely stopped right away.
It was pretty funny, as we were waiting to get on for our second ride, the current cycle was slowing down, and it made that noise. The ride op(younger kid) turned to us and said "Did you guys hear that noise?" We were like yeah, and he was like "Was that this ride??" We nodded and his eyes got really big, lol.
Hometown Fun Machine is a pretty fun ride. It has a nice view of water and the whizzer. It does seem to grind a lot and I got a splinter in the wood cars. It would be a LOT better with a refurbishment.
I rather use the words "for parents with children" instead of for families. I believe that kids can take more than older people. Fiddler's Fling wouldn't have a line if this wasn't true. I think FF is the most intense ride at the park. This may or might not be true for some of you, but I think it goes pretty fast anyway compared to other flats. It also spins and is on a tilt.
If you just refurbishment it, how much can you change it to make better? I think its a worthy investment to get another one. During Fright Fest was the only time I've seen it packed last year. I was shocked to see it that packed. However, FF isn't everyday.

I think Six Flags should get rid of it and get a Super Sizzler in it's place. Anyone ever seen on of those?
Candy: What you lookin' at? Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama. Candy: Yeah, you see something you like? Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
I really love the ride, although I believe the current location is absolutely horrible. I'm sure people can think of a million other places to put it. I noticed this weekend that it was back up and running with a nice looking paint job.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name
