Eyesore or the century

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned the new games in Southwest, like the Somewhat tastefully done one in the gazebo near where the kiddie rides used to be, or especially...

The Butt Ugliest, worst located, most retarded game ever forced upon the people of this earth. That relocated Wac A Mole game they tore out of County Fair and put it in place of the fountain in Hometown Square.

It's so confused as that was a pretty nice fountain, it was almost new, it was less than 5 years old, and they didnt repave that area to cover up how they chopped up the asphault, and did a real half assed job patching what they did tear up, and on top of that they left the old concrete pad in County Fair, which was surrounded by benches, and when people move those benches, it will be a trip hazard that can take out the best of them.

And on top of that they are adding those 6 new games in those 2 buildings before entering Southwest Territory, and a new mother of all Hi Strikers is being installed in front of those 2 large brown poles that they just put in (I'm told it will be huge)

I wonder why they suddenly decided they had to destroy a whole half of Hometown square for what amounts to a full games gallery.

This goes down in history in the same league as the Green Wall in 2001 that seperated Hometown from county fair (cause people couldnt find Southwest Territory said Jim Wintrode)

I miss the fountain too. I loved it and thought that it looked perfectly placed where it was.

Also the music that was blasting from it ... well ... its just plain awful.

Worst decision Six Flags has ever made was getting rid of the fountain. I am just pissed that they pulled it out. Now there is no place to sit and wait wile friends and family use the washroom or ride Orbit. They didn't even put any benches out to replace the rest spot. :x

My guess would be, they want you to spend as much money on games on your way in or out of Hurricane Harbor. in my opinion, that's the only reason they put the entrance so far into the park...to help increase in park spending on the way to or from the waterpark. While they might end up doing that, they really are taking alot away from the park atmosphere and the once great themeing of Southwest Territory. (I can't see a Hurricane Harbor entrance plaza fitting in nicely with Southwest Territory)

I don't get why they moved a game from county fair, and left a concrete slab in it's place. It just ended up making both areas look bad. Why couldn't they have just built a brand new game there and theme it to the area like they are doing for the other 4 new games.

And as people said above, when they got rid of the fountain they basically got rid of one big bench and didn't replace it with anything. So now there's no place to sit around there.

Where will the trolls hang out this year at Fright Fest?? The past 2 years they have been hanging out by the fountain more then by their "home" by the water.

That new game came straight from County Fair. I really dislike that they had to move it over into HTS, it ruins the effect of that section of the park.

Yes, I frowned at the news when I heard it, but I gues Six Flags wants to cram as many games, shops, and stalls along the path to Hurricane Harbor.
That foundatin was always a nice part of the park. It brought a little bit of greenery to the paths. And although I have yet to see what remains, it sounds like they did a bad job patching up where it used to reside.

I too am upset, as I really liked that fountain by Orbit, it was just so much prettier. I also do not like those game stalls between Orbit and the railroad bridge. I think they really made that area look crammed and congested.

I though the exact same thing when I saw that game there. It’s the most stupid move ever. Also, I think the path leading to HH is way to narrow. I expect a huge traffic jam when it is open.

Did anyone notice that a new computer system was installed? They have replaced all the cash Registers and Ticket scanners in the front. They were having problems processing season passes because of the new computer system.

I noticed that re-entry to the park can only go through one line now. Last year they had the black light readers at all the lines.

Yeah moving the game to where the fountain was, is ridiculous, they added enough games already they didn't need to put one where the fountain is not to mention the fact that it looks like crap sitting in the middle of the pathway.

then there is this place with a concrete slab with benches around that. it looks awlful. In county fair. then they move the one game from the county fair section and it is still themed to the county fair colors.

Why did they have to move the fountian and not just put Whack-A-Mole somewhere else, or leave it where it was? The fountian was a good place to sit and watch orbit or just to rest your feet. And little kids liked it. it justr seems stupid to put a game in place of a fountian!

You got it.

You guys have to remember that Six Flags Great America is a business, and it must be run as such. They need all the income they can generate at the moment.

That is kind of the only sensible place to put it. Those big buildings before SWT are supposidly being built for games as well.

Why didnt they just put a few game stalls along the path from swt to hh (over by viper)? That would have been WAY smarter. They could have put the repainted game on the side of the sidewalk next to a sun glass stall/towel/camera stand and it wouldnt have screwed up hometown square.

One would think making the waterpark seperate admission would make alot more money then any amount of games before Hurricane Harbors entrance would generate.

I don't mind the idea of the game being there, but they should have made it fit the area. Like they did with the guessing game off to the side in the gazebo.
