Ok, I say they will fail to make the playoffs. Now, I want to first say
that, ok, I'm a BRAVES fan, but I do know a lot about the Cubs.

Second, I'll tell you why I feel that the Cubs won't make the playoffs.

#1 - SOSA: Hendry needs to get rid of him. I know that he has a huge
contract and such, but he is a drain on the Cubs moral. What he did
on the last game of the 2004 season, was wrong, and there is no need
for a person to act like he did. Keeping him on the Cubs, will keep
moral low and the team will drag.

#2 - PITCHING: Ok, one thing that the Cubs lack is solid Relief Pitchers.
The starters will go into the 6th or 7th inning and be winning on average
of 4-2, but once that RP comes in, it becomes 4-6. What the Cubs need
to do is, spend some money, and concentrate on getting some RP's. Now
this next idea may get some of you Cubs fans mad at me, but let's look
at Prior for a minute. 2 Seasons with injuries. I don't think that he is
ready for SP position with the injuries that he has. Would it not be a great
idea to move Prior into the Closer postion? Think about it. You have
a Starting Rotation of:
-1: Wood
-2: Zambrano
-3: Maddox
-4: Rusch
-5: Mitre
-Closer: Prior

That would be an awesome starting Rotation with a great Closer.

Well, coming from a Braves fan who was a former Cubs fan, I say
that Cubs aren't a playoff team yet. There is no way that they can
topple the Cards.

"No way they can topple Cards?" stay a Braves fan.

First of all the Cards pitching staff is more suspect then the Cubs' the truth is pitching is at an all around low of suckiness.

Second Mark Mulder's shoulder is hanging by a thread. He has great stuff but is a liability at best.

Chris Carpenter? where did this guy come from. One great year and he's the next Randy Johnson.

The Cubs i dont think realistically will win the WS. But i do think they'll make it to the playoffs.

Prior as closer? no thank you. As for putting Mitre in the starting rotation, no way.. he's best reserved for middle relief.

As for Sosa, i expect him to be traded. Sammy knows he's hated here and probably will get out the next chance he can.

Sosa reportedly is being traded to the Orioles for Hairston Jr. and a couple of minor leaugers (sp?) pending a physical and the commissioners approval. Well, at least they did what they wanted, now they just need a true lead off hitter and some one to fill the oufield.

This is the best thing the Cubs could have done....the free swinging Sosa is gone and now thwy can focus on the game of baseball. Losing, Alou is more a blow then losing Sammy, IMHO.

Got a great pitching staff and without the bickering of Sosa, maybe Dusty and his boys can get stuff done...well until they meet the Dodgers and get killed, but that's another topic for another day.

No, I have to agree, that losing Alou was bad. I really hoped that the cubs would resign him as an outfielder. He was a veteran and one of the better players of our time-he really could have shown the new kids how to do things.

With the loss of Sosa now....it'll be interesting to see how, Dusty shuffles the lineup. If anything the Cubs have a great pitching staff. Hopefully they hit and play D behind their pitchers. I like, Nomar, but like he proved in Boston he cannot take this team to the promise land. The Cardinals are still the team to beat along with the Braves.

Now lemme tell you about the Dodgers.
