Does anyone remember Lakehurst near SFGAm? I'm working on a site about it and I need some photos. If you have any, please email them to me. Anyway, I made a video of the demolition. I'll have it up soon.
They tore it down. Carson's stayed open a little longer, though. The last time I was there, only about 10% of the stores were open, and they even had a Santa Claus (although it was completely empty).
I Don't. I remember those hanging net light thingys and going into carsons after the rest of the mall closed. But now it's gone. And it is being replaced by "Fountain Square Waukegan"
When I took photos of demolition, those net lights were gone. My mom worked at the Wieboldt's Dept. Store there and said she doesn't remember them. Were they there just during demo? Or long time ago?

They were there a long time ago, when the whole mall was open. they were already gone when just carsons was open. They were like between the first and second floor, they were like square-foot squares of lights and they hung down from the ceiling. I just remember seeing that when I was little.
Went to the Lakehurst theatre tonight and noticed that Fun Harbour right behind the bowling alley has new owners and they are in the process of opening the FEC up again.
Good news for the kiddies and adults who act like kids (like me).
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I miss that pier 1, I liked that store. I bought a lot of candle's there. I drive by lakehurst pretty much every day, and always wonder about it. I just noticed that starbucks the other day, anyone know what the construction is by the theatre?
Its a mall thats very similar to lakehurst in design that there turning into a mixed development. They knocked down a former sears store and put in a pickn save and menards. The rest is just sitting there. Unused.
Yeah...anyway back on topic. I know a lot of new things have signed on for fountain square. The McDonalds, which was the construction by the theatre I mentioned, is opening soon. And construction has also started on a wal-mart. If you drive by you'll see a lot has changed. I'm just curious where to do you live jon that you know so much about lakehurst? Because I live right near there.
