Wouldn't the value of scrap steel still be less then selling it cheap. I do know steel is worth money, as the factory I work at has its steel scrap in a barb wired area unlike the other metals.
You would think Six Flags, with all their cash problems, could sell it for say $750,000 (just a number,no idea) instead of scraping it for much less? Some Wisconsin Dells land owner or any small amusment park could make good use of it. As far as I know it was fairly reliable.
I'd say its about time they cleaned out that area. old rides sitting back there are doing nothing for them. I'm sure if SF could sell the rides for more than they'd get for scrap metal that they'd sell them. they aren't scrapping the rides for no reason.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Didn't FParker say something in one of the MANY earlier topics about this coaster and how one of the final decisions to make it go in the first place is because one of the wheels actually fell off one of the trains and sparks were flying everywhere?

Actually DejaVu the Ride, Ameri-Go-Round is actually worth something(lots actually) so I don't think they would get rid of it without a buyer. I was actually thinking one time to rent a truck and take the AGR containers .
Why would they put ameri go round back up if no one ever went on it and we already have the double carousel? The only reason i can think of is if the park knocks down the whole splashwater falls and cars area for a coaster and have extra room for a meri go round.
If Im not mistaken Ameri-Go-Round was original and that might be why he wanted it back up. Also its a nice old classic merry go round so why not have it put back up.
Yeah i just had a big convo with someone online and now i get why they want to keep it. If a small ride like that will sell for that much money it is a good idea to keep it.

They have been trying to sell it for the last years that they had it on the hill. They have been getting no buyers, no one wants the ride. So get money off of it, and sell it for scraps, instead of letting it sit there and do nothing of use.

AS Planea said, they will not sell it for cheap. Carousel horses are worth a lot of money, and the value of a carousel increases as the years go on, rather than decreasing. The Ameri-go-round will not be leaving anytime soon, anyways it is not in the way, it is by S:UF, you fly almost right over it. Also, Tim Black never said he IS putting back up, he said he MAY put it back up.
The main reason for getting rid of all the rides in the employee lot is because it is collecting and taking away parking. With a new waterpark, there will be more employees, and they will need more parking. Every ride scrapped in the back is gone.

ShockWave never had an accident.
As for this, there is something that you all should know. Tim Black left the park, he is no longer the GM of the park, he retired, for reasons unknown. Seriously.
And Shockwave did have an accident, something fell off from the train during the ride, I think it was a wheel. There was no injuries, that may be why you never heard about it.

Where did you find out this information? I've been searching all over
the internet, and I can't find any information to back this up!

I don’t know if this is true. But as of the Announcement of the Water Park he was still the GM. So, if that happened it must of been very recent. I will check into it tomorrow to see if this is true.

Here's my opinion: You can gut Splashwater now that we're getting a new waterpark, but nobody even touch this ride. This is a good page of my memory lane, and the ride takes no less than 10 minutes to board, so these antiques aren't leaving the park anytime soon.

You ascend over it if that's what you mean. I bet you also mean those semi-truck trailers above the lift hill. Otherwise, I never saw it while on the ride. And to whoever says the merry-go-round should be re-built in the park, I think it's far better off at Navy Pier.

How tragic. I can't believe no park wanted to buy the coaster. I thought it was a great original. I like Superman, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the tall blue-and-white structure. I still mourn the loss of the coaster along with the other fans. But hey, life goes on.

For those of you who quoted this post. If you read it correctly, you will see that I never said they would sell it cheaply. I just said that it would be sold cheap before they ever think of melting it down. I realize that it is an expensive carousel.
And yes, Tim Black is no longer with the park. He retired and had issues with corporate as others have said. But that isn't as sad as Shockwave's problem because in reality, Shockwave did more for the park than Black ever did.
