Raging Bull Without Trims

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Katana on August 28th, 2004, 5:45 pm
I believe it was the friday before the bull opened that a radio station had an event at SFGAm and the attendees were the first to ride RB. I remember someone writing a TR (the TR was posted on Ultimate Rollercoaster's forums) and saying that there weren't any trims on it that day, anyone remember this? Has there been any other time where the trims were not on, like for ERTs? Anyone been on it without trims, how much of a difference was there? Ejector air on the camelback, lots of positive Gs in the figure 8?
You can put it on the board...yes!

Well I have rode Apollo's Chariot and it isn't trimmed to hell like RB. The air is much more signifigant, no doubt. But AC and RB are completely different coasters. Sorry if that didn't answer your question.

I've been on raging bull two times with no trims. The first time was insane we flew over the third hill like crazy, i was out of my seat for at least.... 3 seconds (back row) The secoind time was no different just slightly quieter. We were going so slow it was not needed..

I believe that if Raging Bull was designed to safely run without trims every day then it would run without trims every day. As it is, it probably needs them to keep maintnence costs at a minimum.

The Trims only go on when the train has people on it. When the train is just about empty the trims do not turn on. I believe there is a sensor that detects the speed and if it is going too fast the trims will engage to slow the train down. I believe sometime in May of this year I road a no trim RB. But as the person above stated, it is so much slower that you do not get any more airtime.

I've seen Raging Bull test- It still gets trimmed to hell.

I've never had no trims on the 3rd hill, but I pray one day I get on without them on.

I have been on it with no trims. The block brakes weren't trimmed, the camelback, NOTHING. And it was great.

It pays to get involved in a commercial shoot.

"I pray that i never ride Raging Bull with out trims"
"I can beleive that Raging Bull is trimmed as hard as it is"

Go cry about it seriously, the ride was built that way with the safety of its riders in mind. If you dont like it, then dont ride it. simple as that.

Personally, i love RB its a great ride certainly one of my #1 favorites along with DejaVu and Beast. Quite whining about it already.

Yea, It's still a good coaster with trims, but without trims it makes the ride that much more of an improvement. Great airtime on the 3rd hill, and the figure 8 is actually somewhat intense.

When maintenece runs it in the morning a lot of the times all the trims will be off, also if you ride it empty the trims may be off (the first ride of Fat Saturday I was on the trims were off, there were 3 people on it).

Also yesterday the trim on the camelback was barely working (probably sliding because the rain) it was flying into the brakerun, fastest i've ever seen it with full trains. Some of my best Bull rides 8).

Also i'm pretty sure Raging Bull's media preview they wern't using any brakes.

They should turn off the trims when they only run two trains, it would be worth the matenince.

Exscuse me for the language, but how the hell would turning off the trims but having added maintenince be worth it?!?

Why would the park spend extra money (and possibly lots of it) just to give riders more airtime. The ride is plenty good as it is and it pleases everyone who rides it.

Don't be so nieve and say that the park should do it because they dont cater to enthusiasts..

I definitely agree with aero. It would be pretty pointless. Although I'm sure it's awesome without trims. :)

Everytime I've been on Raging Bull in past years they had the trims on the third hill turned off, actully untill I rode it this year I was unaware there were trims on top of the third hill and it offers some of the craziest airtime of any coaster Ive been on. But a couple of weeks ago they had the trims turned on, which in my opinion did make the ride less thrilling. It slowes it down a lot, almost to a point where all the airtime is non existent. Does it make the ride less fun, in my opinion no, but it does take away some of the out of control feeling that I really loved about raging bull.

I have been on a few times with no trims, but the train was going much slower. I think that the Bull is good trims or not. Most of you must agree because RB won the survivor.

Brakes that slow the train to the speed selected by the park.

The third hill trim does bother me, but not as much as the last one before the figure 8(when it works) For probably the last year or two, I haven't heard anything out of that one, until last Saturday. I wasn't much, but enough for me to notice it.
I remember it used to slow the train way down, to the point where the figure 8 was boring. As long as that doesn't start happening again.

Although, as someone else said, it is still a great ride none the less. :)
Finally Coaster Season!!

Yeah, I remember when the figure 8 was trimmed. I believe I never rode it with those trims on since October 2002. It's a more fun ride without those trims. The third hill trims I don't mind.

Are there "mini-trims" or something at the bottom of the figure 8? You can only hear them in the back and they don't slow the train, from what I can tell.

Yeah i think those are trims. They wouldnt put them there for decoration. And i know for sure that they're not block brakes.

It's a trim brake, that's rarely/barely used.
