Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Aero737 on May 28th, 2003, 9:57 am
I have not ridden any of the water rides yet at GAm and this year I am trying to ride every ride I can. I have a few questions about the water rides and I have only been able to find broken information in the topics. First How Tall/Long are the 4 rides?Second How Wet will you get?Third What are the major elements on the ride (double dip drop etc..)?Fourth Who made the ride? Thanks for any help. :)

I believe that both log flumes are about 60 ft.You don't get that wet on either of the flumes. You get soaked on Roaring Rapids especially if the water fall by the cave is going. No matter what you get soaked on Splashwater Falls. I think it is a 50 ft. drop.

Yankee Clipper (aka Ice Mountain Splash) will keep you bone dry. However, if there is enough weight in the right part of your log, Loggers Run will soak you.

I have to strongly disagree with you on that, I have came off Roaring Rapids countless times dry (this happens mostly when the waterfall and the person shooting the water at you isn't going). But Splashwater Falls I have never come off even close to dry, when you ride that your guarenteed to get soaked...theres no way to hide from that tidal wave of water that hits the car.

Splashwater Falls is a great way to get soaked on a hot day. Then, waiting on the bridge for the 'splashdown' is a second way to make sure you get every part of your body soaked. Roaring Rapids is a great ride, too. I don't know how much those coin-operated 'splash cannons' are, but those can pack in some nice squirting if timed properly.

Splashwater Falls gets you more wet than jumping in a lake with a snowmobile suit on.

Those are rare times when the waterfall is not working, usually on cold or early days in the season. The worker shooting water is common to not be there, but Its still kinda of hard to come off the ride dry, with all Those dips unless you trty and avoid the water  .

To the best of my knowledge the flumes were built by Arrow, I don't know about Splash, but it's trade name is "Shoot the Chutes"

Specifically, the flumes are Arrow Hydroflumes. Thats why they have the 2 drop chutes. Plus there is something at the bottom that makes them keep the speed a little longer, I guess.

Did they have to take down Demon when they took down Shockwave?

They really need to make the rapids on Roaring Rapids higher because they are pretty pathetic. Also, they shut that waterfall off before you go into the cave which is a major drench factor. The reason I was wet because of cannons that the worker did, not because of the rapids or the waterfalls. Also, Intamin makes it.

Why do you keep reviving these year and a half old topics?

They are interesting to look at, and it doesn't matter if some topics are a year or later older, because I'm sure some people never even seen them before like me.

Ice Mountain Splash- I don't know if they'll even have the staff to get this open again or for awhile. Anyway, real 60 foot drop. Doesn't get you too wet but a bit.

Loggers Run- 2; 30 foot drops (doule down). Gets you a lot more wet than Ice Mountain.

Splashwater Falls- By far gets you the wettest, big tidal wave then a wall of water coming from over the bridge, although the ride sucks.

Rapids- Can get you quite wet, cannons are all over the place so watch out.

For Splash Water Falls, do they still let you on the bridge without going on the ride? Before, some people would sneak to the bridge without riding the ride. I don't see why they don't if they still do. They put the turnstyle by the exit to stop people from coming in.

I haven't been on this ride in a long time, just because Roaring Rapids is more unpredictable and is a longer ride. It's more fun for me. For Logger's Run along with Ice Mountain Splash, they seem like they just want you to get to the lift fast. That's not much fun for me. I like it when a log or a boat rides has currents, and you splash along the way. I'm talking about after the first lift and before the second one. They made it long just so they could have more boats and logs.

When aero wrote this, he was probably not a mod, and probably did not go to six flags as much. He asked about a ride for a trip that he was going on a year and a half ago. So theres no point to this topic. Just my opinion. Have a nice day! :D

Whenever I'm hot and don't want to wait in line, I always go through the exit onto the bridge. If they didn't have the big signs that said "Exit Only, Do not use for access to bridge." I bet almost nobody would do it because nobody would know where the exit even is.

I don't understand why they put the sign up there, exit only. What's wrong with going to the bridge and wanting to get soaked without going on the ride?
