Ron/Wolf wrote:So, I propose since I amoung many people feel The Current Layout on Superman in just O.K. at best, and with all that room left over from Shockwave why not retrofit our ride?

Because that would be unecessarily expensive. Rides have had major layout changes before (Steel Phantom), but not without a huge cost, and never on a B&M. Walter and Claude don't like their rides being tampered with. Think of what would have to be done to change the layout- new track would have to be bought, as well as new supports( With B&M's track and supports being substantially more expensive than other companies). The layout would have to be changed, and a new ride control system would have designed. If Six Flags chose to use as much of the old ride as possible ( which would make the most business sense), it might result in design compromises, and we could very well be left with another sub par creation. And then let's not forget the fact that to change one layout, would prompt Gadv and oG to request changes in their rides as well.

Ron/Wolf wrote:We deserve better we lost alot for it it would only be right. With the new water park going in it's proof Shockwave never had to leave! All other Six Flags Clones are still running and we had the first and best. Vortex still runs at Kings Island and their adding a new coaster and Vortex stays

First, the other Arrow multi-loopers are not clones. GASM is very similar but not exact, and Viper has the same inversion order, but a very diffrent layout. Below I've included pictures VVVVVV And, if you've ever seen vortex, it the odd ball of the four with only two loops, a drastically different layout, and a helix. Also, if you've ever been to PKI, you would know why your point at the end lacks even the simplest of logic. PKI has ALOT of room to expand. Parking lots are located all towards the front of the park, and, behind the park is nothing but hills and valley. If you enter the park, the left side(not sure of the cardinal direction) has lots of flat land to expand on, and I belive there is a town on the right side. I'm not sure where they're putting the ride, but they have alot more room to expand than SFGAm. Here's pictures of the rides-

For an expert on the park, I'd be skeptical to believe your information, as well as your credibility in general.

As far as Superman goes, I'm not sure what it could be. Cranes are often used to push valleyed trains through the circuit, and are also used to fix and rethread chains. The motor idea is wrong, as most simple engineering tells you that most heavy motors are placed at the bottom of the ride. And, if it was a faulty chain, I don't believe a new chain could be ordered and installed in the time frame it was done. Although, it may have been possible to fix a single faulty link.

Don't want to be a PKI fanboy here but: Everyone who says that Shockwave was the best of the big 4 Arrow loopers, I don't know about that. Suprisingly Vortex's drop has almost equal airtime has The Beast's first drop. I'm pretty sure you don't get any air on Shockwave's. Please don't flame me for this but come on, all the Arrow Mega loopers are pretty darn even. Just because SW was at SFGAm doesn't make it the best.

I think Viper was a million times better than Shockwave was. They had trim brakes all over the place which made it kinda slow, but really smooth.

I also think Vortex and Viper were better than ShockWave. I also think Loch Ness and Orient Express were better Arrow coasters than Shockwave.

With all that said, Superman's layout DOES leave a lot to be desired and on a relative scale I think Shockwave's re-rideablity appeal lasted longer than Superman's will. Flyers are novelties, and depending on who you are, SFGAm is now -+Stuck+- with a novelty coaster.

^Loch Ness was amazing, I would have said that right away if I wasn't thinking Arrow Mega Loopers. Even Demon blew Shockwave out of the water.

I agree .. I would also offer that Orient Express was by far the superior sister. BGW is my top 5 favorite parks tho. A great, great park

Though I never rode Shockwave, I think some of the reason why its not the best Arrow Looper, is theming. Lochness' tunnel, Demon's tunnel w/ lights, Vortex has actual trees in the lay out. Shockwave just basically grew out of the parking lot.

There have been many rumors. But i really do think that if we can get enough money this year then we could get a new coaster for 2006. Six Flags knows that if we dont get a new coaster soon nobody will come to the park, because some people dont care about a waterpark.

Am I missing the boat, or is this really a Shockwave topic instead of a SUF topic?

Is SUF still working? Who knows, the ride could have gone down the next day it was working (So, that's why I'm asking.).

The reason Vortex is still running is because it is FUN. :) For some reason, I do not think that Great America is the least bit sorry that they removed Shockwave.

Anyway, back on topic.....
Good to hear tha SUF is back up, just in time for my visit this weekend. :D

How? If shockwave had a tunnel of lights then it would've cast Demon out of the park!

Wait, Demon's drop gives you more airtime while Shockwave gave you less. Pay no attention to the height. :D

People like I said. If you think Demon's drop has some air, Vortex has like 3 times that. Its basically the best reason to ride it.

Not the point, Demon still has a line and a 42" restriction and is not unpopular .
