The American Eagle

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Ya know, why does everyone complain that a wooden coaster is rough? I mean arent woodies supposed to be atleast a little rough. I prefer Blue, because Red is just a decent woodie. But, Blue, the helix is insane and going backwards just makes the ride much more unique.

I believe that they put the mid-course break on Colossus to be able to run 6 trains. I don't think it ever ran 8.

And American Eagle did use to run 6 trains. It even had just seatbelts.

They put the mid course brake cause someone was ejected out of the ride and that part had to be reprofiled, and yes it did use to run 8.

It had 1 lapbar that went over the row, not just seatbelts.

Collosus at Magic used to run 8, before they put in the mid course block by the way.

Now it runs one, two if it's crowded.

I have been on many woodies, and I think American Eagle surpases them all. There are many parks that have coasters both older and younger than eagle that are so rough you get off of them and you are in "pain" . American Eagle is so smooth compared to most coaster. It gives air time, nice helix , and I believe it still draws a decent amount of people to it. It is a coaster classic and should not be torn down.

Tearing it down would be an even bigger project than putting it up.

Most people probably think it need to be torn down because of the looks. If they repaint AE it will look a lot better. They also redid the turnaround awhile ago. So be thankful!

It's a big classic that's basically 2 different experiences that don't take up that much room. It's still rather popular so I think it's going to stick around for a while.

The American Eagle is my favorite ride in the park. It is a great ride, especially at night. Because it is an out and back, you dont see the station or all the people in line, which makes everyone have fun and act like an idiot. Before this season none of my friends liked it. But because it barely ever has a line at night ( weekdays), it is a good ride too keep running around to the front of the line and go back on with barely a wait, or a walk on.

My top 5 coasters are:
1.) Eagle Blue ( backwards)
2.) Raging Bull
3.) Dejavu
4.) American Eagle (frontwards)
5.) Batman The Ride

if American Eagle is torn down it will be the DUMBEST thing sfgam will ever do. It was my second(of twenty wood coasters) and is one of the best. It lost its intensity but that gives it a better family appeareance. That 147 foot 55 degree drop STILL scares me :)

I think it's the best coaster in SFGam. It's the best wooden coaster i've been on, better than Colossus at SFMM. Its the most stupid dicision when they say, we tear this ride down. I think they will never tear it down, it's nostalgia . It's a safe ride too. There are many woodies more unsafe than the AE. SFgam is SFgam not without the AE.

American Eagle is a fantastic wooden coaster. Even though it's old, it is still very reilable.

Vitrua Tennis if Eagle is not maintained well how come it is never closed?

I love the first drop on blue side. It always scares me to death. I have to force myself to keep my hands up becuase my instinct begs me to put them down. The sum it all up, Eagle is great and will NEVER be demolished. Even if they have to close it because it just cant run anymore they won't tear it down. It is the parks premier coaster, and was at one point the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world. It will stay up, even if it can't run.
2010 is going to be one to remember forever!!

I have been riding AE since it opened. Now my wife and kids ride it with me. The blue side is awesome! AE is smooth compared to a lot of other wooden coasters I've been on. Hopefully my grandkids will ride it with me. All they have to do is paint it and refurbish the trains.
No ride to tall!

ROTFLMAO

sorry to be mean, but that was just the funniest thing I've heard in a while. if a coaster isn't running, it isn't making money. the SF execs would have to be brain dead to leave up a non-functioning ride. if AE can't run, its coming down period.

that said, I don't see AE coming down anytime soon. its in good working condition and draws enough of a crowd. it is being well maintained as is evidenced by the recent retracking. enjoy it while its here because no coaster is truely safe.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

S:TE should be open very, VERY soon (if not already). Main reason MM has problems gettting their rides running is because X, Vu, and S:TE, without those it would be just like any other SF park.

I'm pretty sure the only ride MM has given up on is Flashback which most people believe is there so MM can claim a high coaster count. plus, its SBNO status has only been in effect since last year. you might see it replaced or repaired soon.

my main point is a coaster isn't going to continue to stand because it is considered some sort of landmark by a small minority of the park's patrons. and from what I've heard, you can't really compare MM's maintenence team to GAm's.

And, now... for the world record of having the longest SBNO time...American Eagle!

Anyways, you know they're going to paint it for next year (not to start a rumor, I have no idea), with all the paining Great America's been doing, and they've already painted and refurbished the station. Blue has refurbished trains, as well. Blue's track is also pretty smooth; red could use some improvements.

Alot of people still like the ride. All of my friends say that AE is their favorite coater. And whenever we go, we always spend the last two hours on Eagle. You usually get to stay on without getting off. Hopefully this columbus day will be like the last two, and ill get to ride eagle the whole day without getting off. My record for eagle rides is 13. 10 of them were without getting off.

You mean one refurbished train. Train #3 looks great. Train #2 is the most beat up garbage looking coaster train I've ever seen.

Are they going to make all of the trains on Blue have flames on the sides, and will they add flames to red also?

If your row is open normally they let you reride, but if other rows are open and yours has people you have to exit because if other people want to reride they'll get mad..
