Demon Question

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Galvan on July 20th, 2004, 1:11 pm
I once read somewhere that Demon is the only remaining Arrow Looper that has the layout that SFGAM's Demon has.(Back to Back Loops and 2 corkscrews also back to back) Can anyone shed some light on this?

Demon at Great America does, not sure if you knew that or not so I guess it's worth posting.
I'll look through some demographics.

Ther are other rides made by Arrow that have back to back loops and back to back corkscrews, but other then the PGA Demon, there are no other clones of the Demon

Carolina Cyclone at Paramount's Carowinds has the back to back loops and screws, but it's not a Demon clone. And I think the same goes for Dragon Fire at Paramount Canada's Wonderland, but there have to be more than that out there.
Finally Coaster Season!!

Brad, i know that Viper and Scream Machine do, but those are Mega Loopers. Demon as you know is just a straight Looper. But, i can swear i read that Demon was the last remaining Looper with the layout it has.

Sorry that perplexed me.

Demon was designed for the park, so i'd imagine it's only 2 of a kind.

RCDB says "Custom Looping Coaster" so wouldn't that mean it was customly made for Marriott?

I would have to suspect that it was custom made since that is a pretty unique location for a coaster.

I was wondering if the OTSR's on Demon and Shockwave were made custom for our park. I noticed that at Cedar Point the Arrow OTSR's had small metal bars to hold on to, kind of like B:TR's restraints. At our park, the Arrow's have/had very large, padded bars that go all the way to the bottom of the restraint. Do any other rides have this?

They're a newer, um, model? Other parks have them too but a lot of parks stick with old crappy ones.

What's going on with the "Demon"s tunnel? the lights aren't working anymore, there's just one small strip of lights that are on all the time.

Those are the emergency lights that are on.
Why the lights havn't been working, I don't know. But they will get them eventually they didn't turn them off for good or anything.

Have those emergency lights always been there, or did they just install them recently? I know that they weren't on before, but I would think that after all these years, I would have noticed them.

I know that they are there for emergencies, but when did they install them? When the ride was built, or later.

They probably have always been in there, you just havn't noticed them because of the real lights.

Last Friday, I didn't see one light in the tunnel. So, they must have just installed them, or they turned the emergency switch on.

I would believe that the emergency lights turn on only in the case of an emergency (or a bulb failure) and that is why you didn't see them. I don't think they would install temporary lighting JUST because the main lighting went down.

The emergency lights look to only be on at night and off during the day.
