Storage Bins

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Danhockey04 on July 17th, 2004, 9:06 am
Are the bins truly safe because yesterday at the park on Batman, my brother and my girlfriend and her friend were at the park. They were on Batman when this occurred, my girlfriend put her things into the bin, and when they got off the ride, they were gone. I know that they have cameras in the tunnel, but I think that they should make a better system for Batman, designate a slot bin for each train, row, and seat, and watch the people take their things out. I know that the bins are better than letting people take theirs things on the rides, but they should have better storage.

A couple of weeks ago when we were there we saw these 2 little boys looking in every bin on the Demon and when they were done they shook their heads at each other and said "nothing good" I was planning on reporting them but they took off after that. That is why I NEVER take anything moe then my refillable cup to put into the bins bcz I figure who would want someones used cup.. pretty nasty huh? Well last week we set our cup down while we went on Hometown Fun Machine and while we were on the ride this girl picked it up and was looking at it like she was going to take it so my fiance had to yell from the ride that that was our cup. I mean it had soda in it so she knew it was someone else's. Some people amaze me. I love the fact that they made the lockers only $5 for all day use. I get one everytime we go. I think it's very convienent bcz you do not even have to carry a key around.

Another reason why I dont play games, or go to the gift shops until the end of the day, or never bring items that cant fit into my pockets.

What a fun day yesterday, we asked securtiy if they could see the tapes....They told us to go to the Rid ops and ask. We asked he was like there is no cameras. I just wanted to F***ing smack the ride op, I was like are you an idiot. My brother's girlfriend demanded to see Tim Black or Mark Bower because there were a ton of reported stolen bags at B:TR, he was like I didn't even know. She said what happen to the Mangers know everything policy this year. There was silence. She told hmi about the security gaurds that were laughing at us, and he was not happy with that...She was basiclly screaming at him. The only people that were being helpful were Guest Relations...The stampers(checking for bags)...and Mark Bower. Most of the Security Gaurds and Police were just assholes to us.

"She appologized at the end, I am going to smack that security gaurd next time I go"DJ

Yeah if we buy anything I usually take it right out to the car but I use the lockers for cameras, cell phones, etc

Wait a minute.. why was she screaming at him? Because they were laughing at you or because she DEMANDED to see the tapes? I'm not trying to be a B!$#@ but I thought that they were not responsible for lost items.

Planea380,

A word of advice for any future contacts with security, law enforcement, or any other person in gerneral. Making demands, yelling, and screeming at people will get you no where. Demanding managers and name droping is halirious. Those people could really care less about your bag. Maybe if you would of handeled it differnetly you would of gotten a better result. Also these people have better things to do then to look for a missing bag because your group was too lazy to find a better place, before hand to put it.

The best ride bin solution I saw was for shiviring timbers at MIA. There is actually a sliding door that corospons to the train that is in the station and there is no access to the other trains bins.

When we weren't yelling.....the rideops told me there was no cmaeras what so ever. Actually DaHockey04's girl friend was doing most of the yelling.

One idiot in the group makes the whole group look bad. Sorry for the mix up but as I was trying to follow what you were trying to say in your post it was getting confusing. Try typing so people can read and follow and not as if you were talking.

Ride ops are there to run the ride in a safe manner not to watch crap for people who are too cheep to get a locker. Lets close down half of the flat rides so there is another ride op on the platform to watch bags. I think not.

Demon has bins that are suppose to correspond to the train color(red, yellow, black), but do people put their stuff in the right bin? no.

The bins are there for practical reasons, not so people can just steal whatever they want. The should have those cubby holes like they do on the water rides, with doors or something.

They are? I don't know how. I always assumed that whatever I put in the bins is my responsibilty and my choice to leave it behind. I realize that they don't have people standing and watching guard over the bins. I guess I stand corrected then.

They are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Even in the bins. Those bins are there for your convenience and that is it. You take the chance by putting something in those bins. Heck, CP doesn't even allow people to place anything in the stations of their coasters. Be glad SF allows this.

If you get done with your ride and your items are gone, sorry to say, you are out of luck.

The only time I use the bins is on the coasters with 1-train operation. You know that another train full of people is not there to steal something while you are riding.

Not trying to be rude here but you and your group were in the wrong.

Chitown took the words out of my mouth, it says right on the bins they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for items left there, if you don't want to secure your items while on the ride, getting a locker is the only truly safe way....it's not they're job to watch them.

^Talk about a run on sentence. Anyways, it really should be the ride-ops resposibility, because they can sit there and chat but they cant watch peoples items that could be worth who knows what!

I dont care what any of you say, they should have done something. It started at 11:00 and my girlfriend's belongings (wallet, license, credit card, and $30 all in her friend's purse that was stolen) were stolen around 5:30 or so, they had plenty of time to get this under control, but they never did. I think if it happened once, they should watch people more carefully and look at the tapes to see who is doing it and find them because they obviously did not leave the park if they continued stealing purses.

I'm confused, do you really think they have a camera facing the bins? They have many in other places.

I think that they have more than one camera facing the bins, especially on BTR because there are so many cameras in that tunnel.
