Problems with Vertical Velocity

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Galvan on July 5th, 2004, 12:12 pm
Now that DejaVu is back up and running for what we hope will be the rest of the summer :).

Vertical Velocity is and has been down for now going on 2 weeks. Yesterday (7/4) The train was out of the station., Id say about 1/4 of the way out of the station. Anyone have a clue as to whats wrong with V2?

Could it be the nagging problems that had it grounded during Fright Fest 2003.

Well, the magnets that power the ride need to be cooled, but i was shocked to see it not run in 70 degree weather.

It has to be more complex than that. Well actually it may not be that complex. It is an Intamin.

The train being 1/4 of the way out of the station might not be that big of a deal. Perhaps mechanics needed to access the LIMs or other parts of the track near the back of the train and had to push the train out of the station a bit in order to reach thoes parts.

They could have been waiting on parts, and they just got them, and they moved the train to fix the problem

Yeah, if they were cycling it and it was parked 1/4 of the way out of the station it could be because the just let the train coast to the station and the brakes stopped it before it could stop in it's normal place.

When the train comes back off the front spike in the normal cycle the brakes stop the ride (permanent magnets like giant drop) and when the ride approaches the station the LIMS operate on very low power to park the train in the same spot. If the LIMs do not come on then the train will stay parked out on the brake run/launch track a bit.

Well, I might be the only one brave enough to say this but who cares about v2!!!!! It's not that great of a ride and usally has a really long wait unless walk-on pass it up. It's not that great of a ride. Maybe a squarl got stuck in the tire. :) Anyways, it'll be up and running but for now, we have soooo much else to look at then v2, aka, madi gras.
Watch out theres a new Hurricane in Gurnee, IL!

V2 doesnt have tires.

v2 is an awesome ride, your opinion has been heeded, but I think v2 is a very unique ride that offers thrills everytime you ride it.

V2 is by far worth all the wait. The last time I went (June 11) it was working fine the entire day. But the LIMS have not worked before when I went on it in 2001. We got stuck ahead of the "park spot" so they let it cool down with us on it and then moved it back!

V2 is awesome!!!

Yeah it was cycling... Still though no crew, so we were pretty sure there was not much hope. It looked like it was only running at about 1/2 power too.

V2 is a great ride, but it is not worth an hour wait, it is awesome when you keep your arms out and try to touch the seat in front of you

I would have to disagree with you. I would waitan hour or more for V2, but a five minute line for RC is way too long.

Here comes the mob.

It's to the point now where I usually won't wait an hour for any coaster at SFGAm.

I know I can come back another day and ride it.

Why is this so? Don't really care for certain coasters?

If there's nothing else to ride and it is a ride that I haven't ridden yet, I will ride it. I won't ride any ride twice in a day if both waits would be one or more hours.
