Best day of the week to go?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby wthrmn15 on July 1st, 2004, 10:30 pm
does anybody know the best day of the week to go to SF Great America during July....because i know that it gets most packed on fridays-sundays....but it can also be quite packed all throughout the week. I'm planning on going next Tuesday, the 6th, and does anyone think it will be more packed then because it is just 2 days after the fourth.

Also, is it best to go on the coasters that tend to get more packed such as DV, RB, S;UF, and the Viper when u first get into the park or near closing time? I know that all of the coasters get packed.....but these are the ones that are the most packed during the peak hours of the day, 1-6, and i was wondering if i should go on them first or last and spend the afternoon riding the less packed ones such as the demon, IW, and the Whizzer.....I guess there really arent any really less packed ones because AE, Vertical Velocity, RC, and Batman all get really packed too. But the demon, IW, and the whizzer seemed to be the least packed in the afternoon hours.

Dont wait till closing to hit SWT coasters, and Deja Vu. People get into line to make the closing night rides. Do them first.

If I had to pick a day in July to go, it would probably be on Tuesday because it is the second day of the week, and just seems like it would be empty.

Pretty much every day from now until early September will be packed, Tuesday through Thursday about 3/4 as crowded.

Even Demon was packed? That's when you know the park is crowded.

On a Wednesday Demon's line went all the way out to the sidewalk. :? It was the worst I'd ever been there.

Basically, any day is going to be packed, but make sure you stay away from the festival dates.

I like thursdays the most. I went yesterday ( July 1st) and during the day all the rides except for dejavu and superman had a 20 minute wait. Dejavu had a 30 minute wait. And Superman had a 45 minute wait. At the end of the day ( last three hours) everything was a walk on except for bull, dejavu and superman. V2 Was down and so was King Chaos. Rc had about a 45 minute wait i think.

So i would say thursdays all year long. Rainy days are also always good. In may look for a rainy day or stay till closing. September, im not really sure i've only gone twice in september before. But i would guess a rainy day. Not sure though, because i went once when it was pouring in september and we got there around 6 and had to go into the overflow lot.
Fright fest=rainy days fridays and columbus day.

Go July 25th. I've been to SFGAm 6 times in July 5 times were ful capacity. July 25th had very low crowds. The weather was fine too.
While history may not repeat itself, try then. That was a thursday...

You know if is going to be crowded, not if Demon has a line, but when Jester's has a line, then it is packed

Demon is usually a walk-on for me except when it is crowded. I have to agree on the Jester's though. As I said before, it is kind of hidden behind the game, and in my opinion it's not a great ride. Trailblaizer is another one that when this ride has a full queue, you know the park is crowded.

I like to go early in the week, particularly when it is forecasted to be raining in the morning, because that drives away all of the people that just decide to pick up and go on a random day. Overcast days are nice, I went on a day with a 90% chance of rain last year, and it was completely empty, and I never saw a drop of rain that entire day.

Other than the days when it looks like bad weather, the park is usually packed at this point, so dance for the possibility of morning rain.
