Do lines matter?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Would you be more likely to go on a ride like Viper that has more of a straight que than V2 which zig-zags back and forth?
To me a line that uses zig-zags or switchbacks (I think) looks much shorter than a straight one so I would pick V2.

Or would you rather go on BTR because of it's previous theming or Am E which doesn't have much theming in line?
Previous BTR theming rocked, definetly more enjoyable.

Are you going to be packed in like a canned-sardine in the Viper or Vu station, or not quite as packed on Demon?
I like it better in the Demon station, but I will still go on Vu and Viper.

Short line like RC (in length) compared to RB.
Longer line because you are moving unlike RC which you are stuck to a stand still.

Honestly, I would like to go on Joker's Jinx somewhere in Texas just because of it's fun house in the line.

So does the line besides length (in time) make you decide you want to ride the ride or is it just because you like the ride to begin with. Could it be both?

I hate the Viper line because you have to walk what seems like a couple miles just to get to the station and then back. On top of that, it is quite hilly (if that's a word). Also, before at least, you were prone to mosquitos attacking you at night.

Viper always seems short to me. The thing I can't stand waiting for is AE even though it's one of my favorite rides.

I don't ride Viper if the line is out the station when it's full, and don't ride V2 unless theres an empty airgate (or 1-2 train wait).

Or would you rather go on BTR because of it's previous theming or Am E which doesn't have much theming in line?
Previous BTR theming rocked, definetly more enjoyable.

I don't wait for Eagle, i'll wait for B:TR if the second half of the junkyard house is used only.

Are you going to be packed in like a canned-sardine in the Viper or Vu station, or not quite as packed on Demon?
I like it better in the Demon station, but I will still go on Vu and Viper.

I wait for Vu when it's using a grouper, the station is horrid (not because it's big, it's because it doesn't move). When there isn't a grouper I lock the turnstyle, wait 2 cycles, and head for 8b. Demon's stations not really a problem because it actually moves.

Short line like RC (in length) compared to RB.
Longer line because you are moving unlike RC which you are stuck to a stand still.

RB's full queue has almost the same wait as Ragin' Cajuns 1 little queue house.

I don't mind Viper's line. I think it's appearance is better than Vu's because you can't see all the people, so the line appears shorter. I don't like waiting for Vu beacuse it's around a lot of other people and they smoke in line sometimes. That's annoying. I'd prefer waiting for Viper.

I would rather wait through all of RB"s queue because it moves really fast and RC's queues are too close and it doesn't move very fast. Plus it doesn't have any shading....RB all the way! :)

If all of the queue's are full they are all about the same wait, that's what they are designed for. (Other than Deja Vu, whos wait is enourmace compared to other coasters full queues.)

I don't like lines that zig zag constantly. After a while it gets really annoying because you dont really change your position, and never see a different view of the ride. I know we are talking about SFGAm but Millennium Force is really bad about that.
As for SFGAm I think most of their lines are pretty nice. SUF is good once your out of the zig zags. Demon's line is cool, with those Corn Nuts signs, ( do they still have those) too bad I never have to wait in it.

They did have the Corn Nuts signs before and they said what you could do in line. I don't remember however, what they actually said.

Interisting topic.

When I was in WDW (Epcot) it was fairly crowded and we wanted to ride test track. We got in the line and it said that the line was 40 min long. Thanks to the great theming (all the lines there have great themeing) the wait seemed much smaller.

Switchbacks always seem to go by fast. It seems like you have a long way to go when you first get in line, but when you come out your left thinking "that was fast".

I agree with Aero on that one. Superman's switchbacks seem like they should take a very long time, but always seem to be the shorteest part of the line in my opinion. (I think that's because only 1 person can really fit inbetween switchbacks because they aren't very wide at all. I love a line that moves...

I refuse to wait in Vipers line if the station is packed with a line all the way to the entrance, I'd only wait it if an employee was at the front of the station controlling the lines heading in. I'd wait in RB line no matter how long it is since its always a fast moving line....same goes for Batman. V2, it depends on if the line goes on the bridge, Deja Vu I only ride at night because I waited 3 hours once for it and it wasn't worth it, so I'll only wait if the line is 1 hour. Everything else on a good day won't have too bad a line so then I'll wait in all of them. And if it turns out its a bad day, like this last sunday, I usually see some shows until it clears out a little more. :D

Vipers station is a mess there should be a grouper there every day with a full station and no grouper you could be in that station for a good 20-30 mins.

Yes, I've seen people pass out from heat stroke/closterphobia in vipers station. Unless you go front or last row it is very crampt and hot.

I wrote Six Flags a letter about that along with D Vu's station, hopefully they will change it. I even gave them a visual, and told them to actually stand in the line during normal operating hours. Miracles can happen, right?

While I admit it is a long trek from the midway to Viper's station, there is one ride out there that really takes the cake when it comes to walking. Go down to Kings Island, and get in line for Top Gun. By the time you reach the station, you've gone up and down about a dozen flights of stairs, and over a que that must be at least 1/4 mile in length. To top it off, Top Gun is like a 45 second ride, then you've got to walk all the way back. :?

Otherwise, I agree with everyone about Viper's station.
Ilovethevu: maybe they will pay attention to your letter. You never know til you try! :)

Just try going to SFStL, most of their major coasters don't have many switchbacks, but are just so incredibally long to walk. BTR probably had a longer queue that I had to walk through than anything I've ever walked through before. I think only one coaster (Ninja) had switchbacks.

Yeah... SFStL is a lot prettier too. They just have good land... it's hilly, full of trees and lots of flowers! And shade... except when you wait in line for The Boss. That's just all sun... but the rest is great. And yeah, Batman's queue is so long it made me laugh.

Nobody has to complain about Viper. The queue is great just the way it is.; in fact, far better, now that the Landscaping people finally took care of the grass. Of course, they still need to take care of the switchbacks.

If you think it's a long walk from the midway to Viper, you'll consider yourself off the wall compared to Dueling Dragons. That ride has at least a long wait even on the slow days because of the long trek to the coaster. Without the line. Got ya!

Definitely agree with you here. Top Gun is by far the longest trek from entrance to ride station that I have ever encountered. If I remember correctly, the exit portion of Top Gun actually has benches.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I don't think GAm can use Top Gun as an excuse for anything, also thats not even the problem, I don't mind overly long queue paths. The problem I have with Viper is standing in the middle of houndreds of people not knowing where i'm going to ride.

BTR is quite long in StL and Dueling Dragons is crazy at USIOA. I can't imagine how long this ride would take in full queue, maybe five hours, it is looooooong.
