Why is V2 down?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on June 30th, 2004, 11:35 am
Does anyone know why V2 is not working? Is the train still on the track? Maybe, they are fixing it, they had two rows broke when I was there last. Have you seen any mechanics working on it? I hope they are not closing it because of the swarm of mosquitos in line. I don't think so. Or is it because they don't have enough help? :?

This reminds me of the last 2 fright fests. Lets hope not. Also, they have enough help to keep one of the most popular attractions open. Remember, it's been down for awhile.

That rust was there on opening day. It is the exposed polished metal from when they were welding. The paint on V2 keeps the bare metal protected from rust and such but you cannot weld something that has paint on it. So they had to remove the paint in order to make their welds. The park probably didn't repaint the exposed area (Welds themselves don't rust, it's the exposed steel of the supports) that is rusting. And it is nothing that you should be worried about.

It's most likely waiting on parts from overseas, no biggie.

Was it broke this year much from your observations? I've been there maybe eight times and I haven't seen it down at all this year. That's why I'm curious what happened to it.

About the roped off seats, those were fixed before the ride closed.
Also V2 hasn't been down much this year, normally when it has a downtime like this (which it normally does at least once a year), it's because they're waiting on parts overseas.

So, if electricity is the problem, they are probably doing the D Vu treatment, another clunky generator. D Vu has two now because of that incident when people were stuck between the loop and the roll (power failure).

I dont think the generator is to blame on Vu, I think something within the ride is short circuting (i believe)

I meant before it was a problem when the incident happened. It had a power outage or surge. Now, the problem has diminished.

When I was in line for V2 on the weekend after opening weekend (hope that makes sense) it broke down but only for about 2 minutes.

I'm going on monday so I hope V2 will be open by then.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

If it's stuck between the loop and the cobra roll it is not because a power failure. How did power failures come up anyway?
If your talking about V2, of course it blows up all time it was built by freggin Intamin.

I believe, not sure, that the power failure caused the e-stop brakes to fail? Just my assumption i have no idea, i dont even think power had anything to do with it valleying, but if he says so

The point I was trying to make is that D Vu had a power interruption way back, and they added another generator. So, if V2 has many power problems, maybe they will add one.
