I have never gone to Great America on 4th of July because the heavy crowds have always scared me away but I think I am going to go on Sat July 3rd this year. Do they do anything special? Fireworks maybe?

Every year I have been to SFGAm on 4th of July they had fireworks (with the exception of last year) They had problems with them almost every year and they were always late or couldnt get them to work right. Two years ago they fired off way too early around 6. Last year they didnt even bother.
As far as this year goes, I dont know, we'll just have to wait and see.

They will have fireworks at the park every day starting June 19th, just like they had it last year. They do not do any big special fireworks show anymore, because first they do not own the land that is across the express way were they used to launch the fire works. 2nd, they have to coordinate it with the Village and I believe the Village wants to do there own fireworks show so they don’t do it anymore.

I went on July 6th last year, but it wasn't crowded at all because of the thunderstorms and tornado warnings. I had been wondering why it was so empty in the morning. I don't plan on going on 4th of July any time soon. Too crowded.
