I say keep both kiddie areas. Heck, even add another one. It's the families that bring in all the $. Plus, we won't always get a brand new coaster every year. We were lucky to get a new coaster in 2003 and 2 new coasters in 2001. Plus, we got not only a new coaster this year too, but 5 other rides.
I mean build around the half of the lake that is not by people's homes, over the access road, and part of that unused SUF land. The access road can actully be dug down to allow equal land level for a water park. Anyways, other towns have wateroarks next to people homes and they do not mind. A water park doesn't make as much noise as a rollerocaster, so I would not really see much objection to a waterpark.
That is one of the reasons why SF sold the land on the other side of the tollway. Neighbors in that area objected to a waterpark, hotel, and convention center.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
If anywhere, I'd bet money if they ever build it, bus lot will be the location, with Busses moved to the RV lot. Though right now I dont think they are planning a waterpark anymore, with a new one supposedly opening near the IL/WI border and WI Dells being the waterpark capital of the universe. They can always try though I suppose, would work as a single gate (waterpark and amusement park for one price)

each water ride has it's own Resivour (sp?) where water is held for the rides, V2 is over the one for the Flumes, Splashwater's pool under the ride supplies that, I forget where White Water Rampage's is, probably just the lowest part of the ride. They are all topped off with regular city water regularly due to evaporation and people carrying it away in their clothes.
That pond it just a stagnent runoff puddle from the parking lot and it contains all the usual parking lot stuff (anti freeze, motor oil, gas, all kinds of stuff that'd make for a fun water ride)
Could be worse, Cedar Point just sucks water straight out of lake erie for their water rides, no filtration chlorination or anything and at the end of the day all the water is dumped back into the lake. (Exept for Snake River Falls, that water is treated)

I think the reason why SF puts a waterpark in there park is because of how many rides they have. St. Louis has about 23 or so non-pay, non-kiddie rides. They have 6 coasters and we have 11. I have been to Kentucky and it seems to be the same story. For the rollercoasters, they have T2, Chang, tow wooden coasters, Greezed Lightning, and Roadrunner mouse. (6) No wonder why they need a waterpark inside the park. SFGAM has about 40 non-pay, non-kiddie rides. I don't think that SFGAM will be putting a waterpark in anytime. However, they could make it separate from the park like Georgia's and probably if and when the time comes.

Forget about the parking lot, your are doing what Six Flags is doing, taking the easy way out. What about all the land inside the park not being used.
