My daughter and I went and saw the Magic Show in Grand Music Hall this past Sunday and it's is well worth seeing.
Even if you aren't into seeing shows at a park, make an exception with this one. Your season pass gets you in 15 minutes early so you get a good seat. The preshow on the 2 big screens is comical.
The show itself has that Vegas style to it. Lots of glitz and props along with music to add to the entertainment. For life of me, I can't remember the magicians name but he is a regular magician in Las Vegas. And no, he is not the same person from 2 years ago.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Thanks for the tip. I have always enjoyed the magic shows at SFGAm. I will most likely take this in later in the season when it get hotter out and need some time to cool off.
Nothing can be worse than me thinking that Merlin's Magicademy was a big style magic show and getting all my friends into the theatre...only to discover a talking tree and stuffed animal...so I'll prolly go and see it.

If you saw Drew Thomas 2 years ago......you will like this guy...although it isnt the same guy they said it would be....the only problem is that the theater does a pretty bad job at hiding most of the illusions....I've already figured out all of them.....but I think its because of the type of stage it is set on and all the different angles you can see the tricks from. But....regardless its a very funny show!

I know this is a stupid question, but do those shows cost money? In the past I have just ignored shows and went on all the rides. But for some reason this year's shows are really calling out to me.

The shows are part of the park price. There no extra fee for them.
Ah Snap. I've been waiting to go see this. Finally it's here. LOL, I've only went to go see We've got the Beat like 4 times already. Not that good but, It's pretty funny watching little kids try to dance. GoodTimes. SFGAM-It's FAMILY playtime this year.
Yeah the magic show is awesome! This is coming from a magician himself. Yes I am a magician, and I have been for almost 7 years. The show is very funny, and I've seen it 2 times already. The World of Magic also does shows in Branson Missouri. My sister and brother-in-law saw it on their honeymoon, different guy but still an awesome show I guess.
I thought this show was helarious, on Sunday they had this big older man as his "Volunteer" and yes, it was helarious. I thought that guy was going to beat the crap outta the magician, which would have been quite funny too. I can't complain about the magician's "lovely assistant's" either...phew...

You know the one woman, Desi Espana , died about a month ago in an accident at a Ringling Bros. Circus....she was doing her scarves trick and she fell about 30 feet head first. Im pretty sure the Espana Extreme was her and her husbands show. Dont know if that was brought up before, but i thought i could just say it becuase i remember her performing that trick last year at the park and she was really good at it....

I have seen this show twice, a couple tricks were changed around a bit. I have to say, James (forget his last name) is awesome! It was better than I expected. My friends and I were cracking up (both times) at some of his lines, and he's really good at adlibbing, too. He is good at making fun of the crowd in a non-offensive way, especially those who talk to each other during his shows.
It was pretty cool when he said, "If you folks figure out a couple of the tricks, that's cool with me. As long as everyone has a good time here today is what counts." If you haven't seen this show, definitely take time out of your day to check it out. Some of the illusions will have you scratching your head, and the humor makes this well worth your time.
I have seen the Magic Show 4 times and it never gets old. Hopefully they have him back next season with an all new show. This is 100 times better than Drew Thomas.

The magician who does most of the shows is James Brandon and he is the better of the two I think.
The other one is David Lundholm (sp) and he actually is in the show anyway as one of the dancers/assistants when James is doing the show.
I also saw him on one of the floats during the parade last night.
No wonder that assistant/dancer looked so familiar! My friends noticed that too, and we couldn't figure out where we saw him before. But yeah, I remember his show now, and I agree, James is better. On another note, the other male assistant/dancer is Frankenstein during "Love at First Fright."

it's interesting you would say that...The show is actually produced by Drew Thomas Productions. The music for the snow effect is the exact same used in Drew's old show with the snow globe. Also, the closing effect with the cycle uses the same music and set backgound as Drew's old closing trick with the race car.
