This is one of the first times I agree with Holydumb. I think you guys are getting WAY to worked up about shockwave. Let it go, I would be willing to bet all my money that shockwave will never return to SFGAm. It makes NO sense. I think you guys just need to get over it, because it is never coming back, no matter how many times you guys write the park. The fact is most of the general public didn't care for it very much. it usually has no line, no more than 20 min. Most people couldn't handle the head banging like some of you here. I think it will be a big disappoint to many people if they brought it back. (most generall public) For me I would need to see some other options.
16 Rides on TTD
10 in Front
4 in front at night
John kerry's got a big head
if they were to return Shockwave to SFGAm(which probley won't happen) they would have to make it better like, new trains by B&M or Vekoma(Arrow Style but built by B&M/Vekoma for comfort). Give it a new coat of paint, and completly revamp(restore) it, so that it's better and not painful in terms of headbanging.......
I don't know, just store Shockwave in the SFGAm warehouse in the employee's parking lot(by Iron Wolf).
coasterzak wrote:but how much do you really know about SFNE? Waste the theme? How could they be wasting the theme when they have a whole superhero section counting for almost all the Batman superhereos and the park has S:RoS - The Superman Ride of Steel?
Exactly. That's what I said in my post before.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull
Shockwave was a mediocre ride at best... then again I'm spoiled with over 300 coasters under my belt. Personally if it is going anywhere, I say Six Flags Astroworld.
coastercrazy111 wrote:It is now a fact. Shockwave will be moved to Six Flags New England. It was rumored to have a Superman theme, but the park did not want to waste the theme, so they will be doing a sort of Batman Villian theme. So let's end this conversation now. It is going to Six Flags New England. Bye, Bye Shockwave. They aren't going to put it back up in our park it's leaving!
I have seen that same rumor for Six Flags New Orleans and Six Flags St. Louis. Is there anything, that makes SFNE more believable?
I recently heard that when shockwave was erected, the contractor welded the outside of the joints together in addition to the standard methods in an attempt to reinforce the structure. I was told that this would make it more difficult to take down the ride and re-build it elsewhere. Supposedly, because of this the Park left Shockwave up many years beyond when they originally wanted to get rid of it ( Mid - Late 90's ), in an attempt to get some other organization to buy it and pay the cost of taking it down and re-building. Does anyone out there know anything about this, or have any up close pictures of vertical supports that might confirm this?
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
Seems to me that they are in no big hurry to sell it. scrap it, or re-construct it anytime soon. This was also said at the conference. Most likley will it be sitting in the parking lot this season again, unless they are putting more and more into a warehouse or something.
Since you guys now know its just going to sit there this topic should die down soon. If anyone reads a press release or whatever about it then maybe start a new topic about it.
I don't want to break it to you. I myself am an employee and I spoke with someone about it. They said Shockwave was going to be completely scrapped because it was too costly to ship it anywhere with the trucks.
They sold multiple parks, and they are trying to get out of debt right now. Think of United Airlines promblems and multiply that by ten and you have Six Flags Great America.
