Best day of the week to visit

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DGL on May 2nd, 2004, 1:59 pm
I'm planning a trip to Chicago in mid-July. We'll probably be leaving on a Saturday and staying for 4 or 5 days. I was just wondering what day of the week would be the best day to go to the park. I was thinking Sunday, that's proved to be the least crowded day at most parks, but I was just wondering if I could get an opinion from some frequent visitors.

I've always thought a tuesday or wendesday to be the best day, espicially if it's a little rainy.

I would say if you go during the week then it won't be nearly as busy. But do you guys think it will be busy next weekend, since it was not busy this weekend?

Actually, just to let you know, I went on a Wednesday in July once expecting 0 lines. Boy, I was wrong! It was the most crouded I've ever been there. Demon's line was as long as it could possibly go, and ussually its a walk-on. I do agree though. A rainy Wednesday probably would be pretty good. Just make sure it is raining.

A Wednesday in May is much different than a Wednesday in July.

Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wednesdays are a little more crowded for some reason.

I think if you go on a day in July, your always going to have decent waits in the afternoon.

Fridays in Fright the park is almost completely empty. I think it's because it opens at 5 PM.

That wouldn't be a help to him, if you saw he is looking to plan a trip for 4 to 5 days in July.

I would definitely go there on a Tuesday and Thurday as they are the least crowded days of the week almost always. If you go 2+ days for some reason then go on Monday or Wednesday.

mschulz5, June 3rd will definitly be very empty as school is still in session that would be a good day to go if you are able too.

sfgam, Memorial day historically has at least a decent crowd if it is nice out, still the park is open 10-9 so it wouldn't be a bad idea to go anyways.

Hey i'm sorry, but i guess one of my friends has a softball game so it's a no-go. What about a Friday, June 4? Just because it's a friday, will it be busy?

Schools are in session, but many of them also sponsor field trips to the park during school hours. This can generate crowds big enough to fill all of the gotham city park queues at Batman in the days after Memorial Day.

Okay, so so far I've been getting a lot of Tuesdays......

Anybody that's been on Sundays? No one has really told me about Sundays yet.

And please remember I'm going in July...some of you are talking about Mother's Day and May...July.

Compared to past years, how would you predict attendance on the Sunday before Memorial Day, compared to the Saturday before that and to Memorial Day?

Of all the years I've been going to SFGAm, I've always gone on Sundays and the park would be empty. But I guess I was lucky.
