The area that was the go karts is walled off and has signs with teasers for 2027. The area of Camp Cartoon also has the same.
So this would basically be the Vekoma version of the family coasters that B&M has done like Big Bad Wolf at Busch. Interesting. One train ops would be terrible.
JackGlass wrote:If the new coaster is installed like this. They will still have a lot of open room in the Go kart plot! This is a really cool addition
Actually, thank you for this. I thought it was gonna extend over the midway
Not a problem my friend! I was shocked that it was a suspended family coaster and not a launched mine train. But this will be an amazing addition! I can't wait to see the full press release of what this area will look like in 2027!
We shall see. The Go Karts is a decent sized plot of land and they also have the same teaser banners on the area that was Camp Cartoon (they removed the Camp Cartoon sign)
So perhaps it’s a very large project for a new kids area and a new family coaster. I just hope it’s more than one train. It would be terrible capacity as one train.

It is not possible to have more than one train on this model.

If they make it longer than the standard version, you can a block break to get a second train, so it’s certainly possible. They got 3 trains on Wrath and there’s not even a midcourse break run.
John talked a length about needing high capacity rides. This would be terrible capacity. Vekoma lists the theoretical max capacity at 680. So assume it will actually be around 400 or 500 per hour.
Parks like Dollywood, Knott's, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Island, Carowinds, etc... are all the same size or bigger than SFGAm and all added family coasters with only one train in the last couple of years. You can certainly go custom to get a second train but not sure if I expect it in this instance
I think the Vekoma SFC is a superior product than the recent B&M Family inverts, but it would be interesting to see SFGAm NOT go with B&M given the history and relationship
Sucker for a launch, custom audio and Demon | Coaster Count: 706

John prefers custom as evidenced by Wrath so I’m hopeful they go that route. It’s not about size of the parks. Outside of maybe Dollywood, most of the parks listed don’t do near the attendance that Great America does on a daily basis.
The Vekomas are certainly cheaper than the B&Ms so I imagine it was a cost thing especially if it might be heavily themed as teased by the posters.

Could the decision to go with Vekoma have something to do with the B&M rattle? It first appeared in 2024, so it is likely that it appeared before the decision was made given the timeline. Obviously Wrath was in the middle of production when the 2024 B&Ms opened so SFGAm didn't really have a choice.
Either way, glad we know what part of our 2027 addition will be and SFGAm's family invert will be interesting to compare with Dragonflier at Dollywood.
Dollywood has a dragonfly, can ours be a moth?! That would be so cute. Honestly, while the Phoenix code on there is a bummer if it is a clone, I'm hoping it's custom but nonetheless, I'm excited for this addition. I'm hopeful we will have a heavy theme going in here as well.
One thing I'm wondering with the teasers & hoping isn't true, is the possibility of bringing in animals like they attempted with Sidewinder Safari. I'm not saying huge exhibits but like falcons/hawks, tiny woodland animals. Just hoping the nature theme is just not that & not literal.
I hope they rip up the asphalt in Yukon like they did with Wrath and Demon and install concrete. It looks so much better.
I agree, hopefully they remove that Fright Fest stuff and reopen the pier. Yukon Territory has so much potential, and it's been a dead area of the park for way too long. Looks like that is about to change in 2027!

I suspect they will do to Yukon what they did to the front part of County Fair in 2025—everything will look a lot nicer and have theming that actually fits. If they keep this up, the park should be looking pretty nice within the next five or so years.
Based on this teaser and another one that had a large construction crane. I'm guessing the Sky Screamer from Six Flags America will make its way to the Yukon Territory as part of the package in 2027. They will probably give it some sort of Tree theme.
I can't see Six Flags letting that Sky Screamer die with Six Flags America. It's not even 10 years old and It would be a perfect fit at Great America
^^^ JackGlass, would the Sky Screamer fit in Hometown Junk Machine plot? I think if it could fit in Hometown Junk Machine plot, it would go great there! "Hometown High Flyer"

How about put it where some of Kidzopolis is? Or where Condor is?
I'm glad someone brought up that crane image cause I've been thinking about it. A lot. I could see this being somewhat of an educational kids/family area, teaching us how forests are important, giving this area more of a national park theme. Showing us how deforestation & corporations are taking away natural beauty & pushing animals out etc. not that this would be the entire point of the land but I think it will be a national park theme, showing us to appreciate our woodland areas. I think that would be amazing.
I could also see the coaster taking on a Firefly theme & or name. There's alot of lightning bugs/fireflies in the banner. That would be cute as hell. The trains would be black, red & yellow. Hoping for a forest green track though. Please not bright colors. Let's go with earthy.

Capacity woes aside, we need to remember the target for this Vekoma SFC. It's not really meant to be a people eating monster in the same way Sprocket Rockets isn't. Whizzer used to be really good but not so much since getting reduced to two trains.
Families with small kids make up a fairly small percentage of our park's attendance and this will please that crowd for sure.
To your 2nd point, I'm honestly kind of done with the B&M's. Especially since they can't seem to figure out the rattle problem. The theory seems to be they have become less stringent on the track fabrication tolerances. Those imperfections in the track are amplified by the train.
It really makes me worry about the rumored Giga. If it doesn't ride smooth like Orion which is the only one I've been on and I come off it feeling itchy from all the vibration I'll be sorely disappointed. I've been on Siren's Curse and I can vouch for new age Vekoma's Smoothness, it's no joke the smoothest coaster I've ever ridden period.
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
Also, Siren's Curse is awesome and you should give it a try.
Just give these new Vekoma's some time and let's see how they ride in 10 years.....
Most people were all enamored with RMC's and now that rage for them seems to have died down, being replaced with a sudden love for Vekoma. Goliath's first drop is a tad bit rough now and Outlaw Run is terrible with a massive "pothole" on first drop. I also find RMC trains SUPER uncomfortable with the hard plastic seats and backs which are super short (compared to good ole B&M trains)

Almost everyone absolutely LOVED RMC as the "great new company" but nobody seems to talk about them now for some reason. Now Vekoma is the "best company around" according to many on here and elsewhere.
