I was not around in 1992, probably rode Batman for the first time in 2013 or 2014... so not sure what theming they brought back and/or what is completely new. But whatever the case I thought it was awesome. I was literally almost tearing up in the station before my first ride, it was that beautiful (to me).
Credit to the park for completely overhauling Batman DURING the season. I was admittedly worried when they announced they were going to repaint it and have it ready by FF, as I did not have complete faith in the park to finish it by FF. Sure enough they did, and they didn't stop there as they went above and beyond with the audio, lights and fog. As long as this theming sticks around, I see a lot of Batman in my future.
The park did not paint Batman. They contract it to an outside company. How fast or how slower it was painted all depended on weather and how fast the third party company worked.
^ Yes, that is true. But it was still a risk starting the project when they did, and everything always comes back to the park for who they choose for contract work. Unless you pull a Cedar Point and deflect everything onto Zamperla publicly multiple times
Also forgot to add that the crew was HAULING. And it seems like they were having fun too, vibing with the music.

To my understanding, there’s really one (or very few) companies that do roller coaster painting. It didn’t happen til August because that was when the company was available. Weather is less risky in August than in the middle of winter.
Is that fog for entering and exiting going to be running all year or just during FF?
All I can say is, way to go Cedar Fair! They are doing an amazing job so far. and I love the new front entrance. I can't wait to see what the finished product looks like next year
GreatAmericanfox wrote:The entrance is almost done, ngl, it actually beats out the old circle plot that's been there since the Marriott Days
Wait, WHAT? You actually like something new over something classic at the park??
Because they improved on it instead of making it shittier, plus it's more efficient than when the metal detectors used to be under where the og ticket booths used to be
Actually, the little flags are kinda a homage to the original ticket booth's flags, and the colors are a homage to CGA's carousel. I like small details like that, my only complaint is i wish the flags were real flags
Still hate the big plot next to Orleans Place being removed, i get they did it for crowds, but i liked that it was there to separate the carousel plaza and Orleans place, plus greenery is cool in general
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back
X Flight pond is still drained…confirming that it has nothing to do with weather. But I imagine it’s due to the Rakshasa construction…although that was empty before they drained the pond by Demon snacks!
Batman effects look cool. The dog is clearly permanent and is programmed to the dispatches.
The radar beam on top of X Flights is broken again
I think he was at the park Friday night…the images of Sky Striker are when it was dark but those already surfaced yesterday afternoon indicate he was at the park on Friday. He may have posted them to Instagram until Saturday.
Chance the Rapper was at the park today. And a few Bulls players were there a few weeks ago.

Appreciate the info!! Seems like there’s a good mix of local celebrities that frequent the park.

Don't worry, the park isn't going to remove a 12-year B&M. I'd say we're only halfway until we should become worried. Besides, I think it gets great ridership since it's right next to the shiny new flat now, and that in-line twist through the tower is appealing to the GP, among other features. Among enthusiasts, yes, it is underrated, but I don't think it's going anywhere.
I agree with Goliath since before I became an enthusiast, it was "Goliache" since I always got a serious headache after riding it. That's changed now, but it's definitely aged worse.
On a side note, for the park's actual 50th in 2026, could anybody else see a family/kiddie coaster coming in called Gulf Coaster after the original? Maybe in New Orleans since that's near a Gulf and Yankee Harbor's defunct?

No.
With a large investment in a B&M, it will be a while before we get another coaster.
The 50th anniversary will be like one. A focus on in park improvements, refurbs, maybe Eagle backwards again. Etc.
