I have almost zero complaints. I would not have cared if Demon was removed because it's a 50 year old pile of crap. I can't believe so many people here are complaining about this, it's absolutely ridiculous. We can all agree SFGAm needs work on the kids areas, etc. That will come in time. Cedar Fair's management just took control months ago and these things take years to plan, if you're gonna complain then blame it on Selim's management.

This should impress everyone looking at it. You're getting a Dive that's not a one-trick pony. I know there are concerns about three trains without a MCBR but with a layout that long it should easily be able to juggle them with only a short wait on the stack. It will really depend on how slow it moves out of that final brake.

MCBR's on these break the pacing and they're notorious for having a lackluster 2nd half. That was one of my main concerns when discussing the rumors and you can ask Galvan, I brought up the same point. This resolves that easily with that fifth inversion into the final helixes.

You lost me at the removing Demon part, it's a classic at this point, being here since the park opened. You're not a true Great America fan

Bold of you.

I worked for the park. I'm glad whizzer was saved. American Eagle remains one of my favorite woodies of all time and I want to see it race again without RMC but this is different. You need to look at this from a more realistic business perspective.

Demon is archaic in both structure and design. It was made back in the days when Ron Toomer made his coasters using metal wire and sight. It's also welded together so it's in need of constant up-keep.

The transitions are legitimately painful. And don't give me that "you don't know how to ride it" argument, it's a strawman argument.

I shouldn't have to know or brace myself for an upcoming head slam going into the corkscrew.

You can only polish a turd for so long and you're clinging to it for the sake of it's history. I get it, history has a value to it but eventually the scale tips.

Great America can and should find a way to preserve its legacy while moving forward with something new.

Retrack?
Old Great America was better, however I hope just a bit of that charm comes back

It would need entirely new profiling, not just retrack to fix issues like that.

Who knows if SFGAm would drop that kind of cash.

I am not a Demon hater, but I do think if we look at the park very realistically—outside of SFGAm going for a Phantom’s Revenge situation—Demon has no more than 5-7 years left in his life AT BEST. And even that is stretching it.

I can definitely see them replacing Demon with a family coaster of some sort a few years down the line. Something that serves the same purpose, a good “first loop” coaster for kids. Maybe it’ll have a launch? Who knows.

Awefan - Agree 100% . I still ride Demon (mostly due to it being a walk on and I can reride it) .

It looks like this will be the third longest of all the Dive Machines, behind only Yukon Striker and Valravn. Very ambitious. This is a really great looking addition. Curious to see if they theme it, and to what extent if they do. The only thing I can think of that would make this particular coaster better is OTSR trains. Can't win 'em all.

Because it’s 50 years old?

Anyone go to the in-park announcement? Any new information that hasn’t been shared already?

Here's what I gathered from the Q&A.

- Passthrough lockers seem to be confirmed.
- Dr. Diabolical was originally designed for this area, they went bigger.
- Targeting Memorial Day.
- Park President says snack stand is staying, but he didn't say "stands" since there's two in that area. I'm pretty sure Demon Snacks is dead since one of the helixes is right on top of where it currently stands, but exit shop is confirmed as well.
- No day 1 flash pass, but will have it.
- Theming wasn't really answered but they're looking into audio stuff similar to what X-Flight has or on board audio.
- They might have to close the area for Construction during Fright Fest, but TBD.

Thanks!! [emoji1]Really really hoping for *any* theming at all. The website description did mention hearing Rakshasa’s growling as you ascend the lift hill which would be pretty neat.

It’s been typical the last few years that the way release the POV at a later date to drum up anticipation in the off season for the new ride. I’m guessing we will get it sometime after the new year.

I'm thinking we enthusiasts will call this simply 'Rakshasa' or 'Rak' for even a shorter name!

Now I'm wondering if Demon's days are numbered with this new ride. How many demon themed rides do we need lol? (I'm second guessing my earlier comment)

Personally I think Rakshasa will become Demon's Spiritual Successor once it finally does close. I see it happening within the next few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they used that opportunity to expand upon that weird outlier DC-themed area around Battle for Metropolis.

So it sounds like park President Krajnak is interested in making the most out of this Demon space in the park and is working with a designer to theme the ride. Yeah, it’s definitely not going to be on the level of Universal theming but if we see something similar to what they did with X-Flight I’ll be happy [emoji2]. I’m excited to see how this turns out! Great America truly gets spoiled.

Yes, it was mentioned briefly when someone asked if it had something similar to Dr Diabolical which has mostly queue theming.

John seemed to give a semi-answer saying things like "looking into it".

So the theming is for Demon or Rakshasa?

Rakshasa, but he also did mention that at some point this midway with Demon and Rakshasa could potentially be its own themed area.

You mean Battle for Metropolis isn't a good fit for the Western Themed Southwest territory?
