As most of you may already know, Myself and Aero737 are huge weather nuts. Well, i thought that id inform you on the weather for the Opening Weekend for Six Flags. (Forcasts from Several Sources)
Accuweather: Saturday: Cloudy with some peaks of Sun High 57, Sunday: Mostly Cloudy High 56.
My-cast.com: Saturday: Overcast with rain possible otherwise cool High 57
Weather.com(Weather Channel) Saturday: Party Cloudy Cool high 57
Sunday: Mostly Cloudy high 58
WGN-TV: No forcast available yet
National Weather Service: Saturday: Cloudy and cool high 60
My personal Weather Prediction: Saturday Cloudy with rain possible high 59. Sunday: Clearing late otherwise cloudy during the afternoon high 57.
I will update this page everyday until Saturday with the lastest Weather info.
It basically looks like Saturday is going to be Cloudy and a temp around 58-60. But keep in mind that the weather is very difficult to forcast so far ahead in the future.
May 1st AM: Partly Cloudy with Northeast winds. 10 AM temperature of 55 degrees.
PM: Winds shift off the lake. Some clouds. High of 57 early then falling quickly late.
Chance of rain: < 20%
May 2nd AM: Chilly. Temperatures in the low-mid 40's. Clear
PM: Warming quickly. Some afternoon clouds. High of 61. Winds generally out of the west.
Chance of rain: < 10%
Note: All these forcasts are of 4-24-04. 2200z
These are all my forcasts using the latest numerical model outputs no outside help. As the date grows nearer the more models we can use and the more indicies we become aware of. As of now, it looks like the lake will be playing a huge factor in the forcast.
Models are in conflict. Right now they are putting out over 2 inches of rain between May 1st and 2nd. I am not going to put out a focast today, as the models have changed so rapidly in the past day.
Yea, they have been changing. I believe that we're now looking at highs in the 60's. It's supposed to get into the 80's the middle of this week, so hopefully it'll stay warm, and if not, temps will increase quickly in the late morning/early afternoon. http://www.weather.com/weather/local/60031?lswe=60031&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared
BOY, I have a lot of planning to do, What am I going to wear? What am I going to have for lunch those two days? And, Who am I going to be with? Cause as of now, I'm going alone. But, Meh It'll be fun.
I know one thing if I lose it your not gonna go get it so I think i'll go with the shirt cause I dont feel like getting beat down by 43242 security guys with big hats (which is what happens at White Sox games where I got the idea, lol).
I think you guys are missing the point of long range forcasts. instead of looking at the chance of precip for an area or the fluctuating temps, just look at what it says in general. the gist of all the forcasts so far has been cloudy, possibly rainy and temps in the 50s-60s. really, that much hasn't changed.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.
Man I hope I can get their this weekend.
I may not though cause my dad still hasn't bought my season pass and I'm even willing to pay for it myself outta the money he owes me.
I also may need it cause even though I do get free admission to the park with the job I got, I still dunno if I can go to the Coasters after Dark thing without a season pass.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
Well, I'm also a weather nut, so based on what I have seen from the reports today, the weather for Saturday will be:
Mostly Cloudy
40% Chance of Showers
High in the upper 40's
Even though it says that, we still have to remember that this is Chicago, and the weather can change very quickly. So, no matter what, I'm still going to show up on Opening Day!!
"The world of politics is filled with uncivilized, snarling, rapacious beasts that, like untrained mutts, raise their legs and urinate on everything we hold dear," - Michael Savage
for example, they was calling for Thunder Storms all day on Sunday in the Louisville, Ky area
I was going to go to SFKK....but I ended up canceling the trip...it rained early in the morning and then was clear for the rest of the day
now I'm planning on going to SFKK Sat night since its the 1st night of the season to stay open till 9pm...hoping to get a few night rides on Thunder Run, Chang & of course Tidal Wav....err Greezed Lightin!
but they are calling for Thunderstorms...knowing my luck this time it actually will storm.
And if it storms on my upcoming trip to SFGAM I will cry...
Modifying Saturday forcast. Looks like rain again. A lot like rain. Both GFS and ETA are in agreement on the possibility of rain. A low pressure system, over Missouri, will track over central Illinois saturday brining the possibility of rain all day. Furthermore, the temperatures will be VERY cold for the season with afternoon highs struggling to make it to 50 degrees.
BIG CHANGES FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. A REAL ROLLER-COASTER RIDE IN THE WX DEPT.
UPPER TROF MOVES TO OUR E TONIGHT WITH WARM AIR ADVECTION CLOUDS RAPIDLY MOVING IN FROM THE NW. UPPER FLOW ZONAL BY 30 HOURS AND SW BY 36 HOURS. NEXT ITEM IS VORT FORECAST TO COME NE IN THIS NEW SW FLOW. STILL A DIFFERENCE IN POSITION WITH ETA MAINLY TO OUR SE WITH THE VORT WHILE GFS OVERHEAD FOR THURSDAY NIGHT. DIFFERNCES CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY AND WEEKEND WITH GFS SLOWER WITH TROF AND DEEPER WHILE ETA MORE PROGRESSIVE ACROSS TOP. CONSENSUS RIGHT NOW WITH THE GFS SO WILL LEAN THAT WAY AT THIS TIME. IF GFS TURNS OUT, THIS WOULD SPELL A DRAWN OUT ON/OFF PRECIP EVENT THRU SEVERAL DAYS WITH SOME DECENT AMOUNTS AS GULF EVENTUALLY OPENS UP WITH GOOD JUICE COMING INTO PLAY.
Sorry about the caps, but that is how the NWS writes everything.
Saturday: Rain. Gusty North North-East winds keep temperatures around 49 degrees. Cloudy. Rainfall of 1.5'' possible
Sunday: COLD. Morning temperatures around freezing. Cloudy. Maybe some morning showers. Cold all day with a high of 50. North gusty winds. Rainfall of less than .01''.
This weekend could turn out to be crap. Possibly turning out like another Mothers Day 2003.
