I think that Viper's new shades is a good idea. Has anyone noticed that Southwest Territory is always the hottest area at SFGAm? So that is why I think I think Viper's new shades are a good idea. How about you?

I think viper got them to shield the people in line from Raging Bull.
The whole line is not shaded (look at the ratmaze in This picture). The shades are only in certain areas, the places where raging bull passes over. These serve the same purpose as the ones on S:UF where the coaster goes over the line. People wont get hit by flying change, cellphones, spit, careless enthusiasts' cameras, etc.
Southwest territory is just as hot as the rest of the park. The theming probably makes it seem hotter (mind tricks-desert southwest). If it is hotter, it's because there is little shade from trees.
I think it needs to dump the whole mission theme, or elaborate on it, turning the section into a highly shaded, brick walkway food market like mexico sections of six flags over texas and universal studios hollywood. At least in the big open space between chubasco and the viper area.
Hey guys, it's the old west. The old west was either barren land, or some sort of small town with one street. Or even a mission. Looks like SFI is just trying to fit the theme to me.

It's amazing how theres actually a topic about this.
As Aero__ said it's more likely there to protect people from stuff flying off of Bull and hitting people in Vipers queue hence what we call it 'spew shields.' .

Awww I wanted to hit someone with a penny. Just kidding. I think there a good idea, spessialy when it is hot out.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

Also imagine if someone got sick after Raging Bull's first drop. They would throw up on someone in line. I won't even get into that. I know. It's even gross for me to think about it.

haha..... that would be quite bad if you got vomit on you.... what would the park do if someone did get covered in vomit i mean its not like everyone brings an extra pair of clothes to change into.
Should you become covered in anything disgusting (Vomit or Blood being the major ones) the park will give you a shower and a change of clothes(basic white tee shirt and if absolutely needed I beleive they do have some spare pants lying around from old unifoms, nothing fancy out of the gift shops for those who would go to disgusting lengths for that souvinear shirt).

They really give you a shower! Thats a relief! I always wondered what they would do if something like that happened. I think that would be kinda strange taking a shower in the park.....eeeek!

Ya, that would be kinda strange. That is a good thing the park offers, it is better then waiting till you get home.

Yeah, that's a major turn off to not only the person who recieved the unwanted gift, but to all others around you
And while I'm typing I might as well add in a funny story that was told to me by a former maintaince guy from the park...
There was this kid (foreigner, if that matters to anyone), but some how some way on one of the coasters (I think it was Viper) he got hit in the face (I think it was the lapbar that hit him when it came up, but it's been a while, I forgot the intricate details), anywho, he started bleeding profusely from his nose, and his mother who he was with refused to do anything about it, said it happens all the time and he'll be fine and she refused the replacement pair of clothes (by this time the front of his shirt was getting pretty well soaked from the dripping blood), and obviously you cant have someone walking around the park caked in blood, so in the end they gave her an ultimatium, either get her kid in different clothes weather it's the parks or not or they'd be asked to leave. (I forget exactly how it ends, but this is how I found out the policy on that, I have not yet recieved a splattering of any type)
