It's obvious they're demolishing something and have an area blocked off. If there's no sign at all, maybe people walk by and see a temporary fence with no explanation and it just looks bad. Through Big Thrills sign, even though WE know it's just a generic thing, just tells the public that, yes, don't worry, something new is coming here at some point.

The many reasons for the membership push were explained in detail in the Q1 conf call. The biggest were ahigher retention rate than passes, members spend more, and buy dining passes at a higher rate.
To me the most important aspects of Gold Season Pass are: unlimited visits at all parks, free parking, the free days and discounted days for friends, the Coasters After Dark. I like things simple and it seems that the Membership pricing structure and its tiers are too complex.
Exclsive ride events, ie...Coasters After Dark are a membership benefit in the chart. They surely will grandfather people in that bought gold passes last year before the benefits changes. Other gold pass perk are also being moved to memberships.

SF is in weird transition phase with the membership tiers coming out this spring, thus some benefits are over lapping from the old gold pass and dining structure. A lot of grandfathering is going on. The person I talked to at SF said this will be reconciled when 2019 passes/memberships go on sale.
So, Gold pass and dining at $188, still makes gold member a better deal at $183 and platinum member the best deal at $180. You can get a lot more benefits for $8 less

1) Unlimited park access (1-3 people). 2) Unlimited parking. 3) Season Dining. 4) Season sports bottle.

However, if the additional *benefits* of membership are thrown into the mix, I could see where others could come to a different conclusion: parking isn't the same parking for each option, "skip the line" passes are available for some of the memberships, special queues to enter the park, etc. If you add a season Flash Pass and Fright Fest wristband to all of the options, the numbers for the Gold Pass and Diamond Elite membership converge, but DE would give you a lot more perks.
Of course, this all assumes that Six Flags will still have a Labor Day sale in 2019. If not, my cost to attend the park will increase, but I don't see any additional benefits from membership that I'll want to use. This would be disappointing.

I think you're supposed to use the Member Dining Plan with memberships, not the Season Dining Pass:
This new membership was put in a wrong time. Many people got their gold passes and here comes something new and people have to pay more money and are relatively confused.

I agree. To me it's another sign of poor planning by SF corporate. If they wanted to push people to memberships, why not roll it out last September? It's not like the concept of memberships at SF was brand new. I get that it's a money maker for SF so they should roll it out whenever it was/is ready, but it still feels off to me.

The land being cleared is some of the best real estate in the park, they'd be dumb to not have something interact with sky trek. Like what cedar fair did with Gold Striker at CGA.

Sadly that's what we are looking at. If only Six Flags actually bought the land across the highway and space wouldn't be a issue.
Six Flags owned all that land for years and got rid of it. Back in the late 90’s that’s where the water park and entertainment village was proposed to go. They intended it to be a resort type of experience kinda like what universal is in Florida. Sadly they couldn’t get approval for a pedestrian bridge over the tollway so nothing ever came to fruition.
What they need to do is build a parking garage in half the back lot. That would enable them to start using land from the front lot and possibly move entrance further out or even just build around it on the sides.
^ Well then they should have done something like Six Flags Over Texas did. Both the main park and Hurricane Harbor aren't connected rather then they actually are close to each other by a distance. A parking garage would be nice since my parent's car wouldn't be so hot .

I've always wanted them to build a sky ride to get across the street Since they probably wouldn't be able to do that, they could always pull a Kentucky Kingdom and have a road with a crosswalk surrounded by the park.

We've been over this before. Six Flags has no interest in expanding the park, or cramming in new rides. You ever notice how pretty much every they put in a ride, they take one out, too, even if they could have fit both rides in? Adding additional rides is just going to cost them more money without making them a lot more money, so don't ever expect it to happen.
