There is a story in Screamscape about some 150acres of land purchased on the other side of Interstate 94 the could be a waterpark or extension of SFGAm. I'm kind of iffy on the details and if anyone could help me out that would be great
Um I thought Gurnee took this land away from them cause of how long they have had it?
So this means there gonna actully do work or are they just gonna not do anything for the next 6 years again? Though if this waterpark happens, I'd be very happy.
Ya, I think a locking is coming since this is another rumor and all rumors have been locked anyway, though in my opinion it should remain open casue this could be an intresting topic but theres not much I can do.
EDIT: I think we have enough Industrial Parks, why do we need another one?
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
Another company, completely separate of Gurnee Mills and Great America, will be building a large waterpark/convention center thing in the area. This was in the paper a few months ago, but I can't find the article. This, however, is something new.

I thought this was gonna be near SFGAm somewhere, not on the other side of it? So seeing SFGAm had annouced (at No Coaster Con I belive...) that they are still gonna try to build Entertainment Village, where would they build it that isn't miles from the park if this area on the other side of I-94 is gonna be used for that Hotel with convention center, and a 6000 sq. foot indoor waterpark?

SFGAm no longer owns that land on the other side of the tollway.
As mentioned, a separate company will be constructing a hotel, indoor waterpark, and convention center on the east side of the tollway (same as SFGAm).
I believe if SFGAm ever builds a waterpark, they will try to construct one on their existing property next to the park.
My crystal ball says it will utilize the existing bus lot.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Actually while SFGAm did sell that land, this week that land will be re-zoned by the village for a new industral park and conference center from what I hear.

Actually, that sale is still fresh ink... it just happened this week:
CenterPoint buys in Gurnee: CenterPoint Properties Trust has signed a contract to buy a vacant 135-acre site in Gurnee from Six Flags Inc., across I-94 from the Great America amusement park, sources said.
The price is nearly $12 million, sources said.
The Oak Brook-based industrial real estate investment trust plans to develop at least 4 million square feet on the property, which is along the west side of I-94, just south of Grand Avenue.
CenterPoint executives could not be reached for comment. Keith Puritz, a senior vice president with commercial real estate firm CB Richard Ellis Inc., which represented Six Flags, confirmed that a contract had been signed, but declined to comment on the price.
It's here, midway down the page! $12 million will do well for the Six Flags Corp.
[sarcasm]Maybe the money will be used to build a floorless in '05! [/sarcasm]

They SOLD it, there not building there. Those plans came about 5 years ago and they just got cancelled. The new owner still might throw a waterpark/convention center in the mix, though.

Homes would make sense since the surrounding property in that area is residential and also some businesses. If you have ever been on Cemetery Rd., that is where the property is. If you arent familiar with Cemetery Rd., its the street right next to Holiday Inn near Gurnee Mills.
Take that road south toward Washington St. and its on the left.

That area's always creeped me out, even though when I went on it it was south of SFGAm at the cemetary .
