But here's the thing, only like 10% of the people at most who go to SFGAm have been to at least 1 other SF park, and chances are it's SFStL. We have a very different ride selection from them minus JL and Batman. The nearest 4D to us will be Joker at SFGAdv. Us enthusiasts and a small sliver of the GP have been/will go to SFGAdv, so putting it at more SF parks get more people a chance to ride this. It's a pretty good business decision if you ask me.
Let's list all the original Six Flags attractions this year: Thunder Rapids All the rest are clones of rides/coasters at other Six Flags/US parks.
Let's list all the original Cedar Fair attractions this year: Mystic Timbers Soaring Timbers (It might be original to the US) All the rest are clones or old rides from Europe at other Cedar Fair/US parks.
I'll bet most of the "Finance" this year went to The New Hurricane Harbor in Mexico and Cedar Point hotels. Finally, I think several of Six Flags' additions are more marketable than Cedar Fair additions (Dorney this year is getting a Troika and Bumper Cars for example.)

Cedar Fair is big into water park expansions/upgrades in 2017 with 5. They added more flat rides than SF overall and at least have 1 new coaster, 1 conversion to floorless. Also, many think a RMC of Mean Streak at Cedar Point is going to be announced after the closure date of Sept 16th. It's hard to believe RMC will have no projects in 2017 and CP has been dropping hints on something being up with Mean Streak. Lesser rumors of one one or both of Hurler coasters getting RMC at Carowinds and Kings Dominion were being floated. Mean Streak is much more likely b/c the announced closure.
^RMC will more than likely not be modifying Mean Streak for 2017, or else construction would have likely already started. The rumor is that Silverwood will be building an RMC for 2017
I think getting a 4D is pretty awesome! Hope we get a flat ride package for 2018. Several of our flats are past their prime. I'd love to see something replace the Hometown Fungus Machine and maybe Condor. I'd really be happy if we got a shiny new B&M for 2018, but that's not likely.

Don't forget Worlds of Fun getting a Condor and a Troika!

A Flat from the 80s and a Flat from the 70s. It is a step up from 5 kids rides and a splash pad in previous years. I honestly thought they were gonna get WWK's Tornado.

And let's not forget that none of these flats that have came/will come to CF parks lately aren't even new. They're all refurbs bought off the Euro carnie circuit

No. Lots of parks have gotten Superloops as their only thing, or has the centerpiece of a package. They wouldn't do one as just a late throw in.
Hurricane Harbor NJ is technically a different park than Great Adventure, so it's a little different situation than us.

Highly doubt anything else. 2016 and 2017 we have received the 2 marquee things SF is promoting...JL and 4D S&S. The only other park to get those things back to back years is GAdv. We are thus at the top of the expenditure list among parks the last 2 years with GAdv, both getting the 2 most costly rides they are adding in mass.
Technically we are receiving two rides in 2017. Joker and a rethemed ERC. SFOT did that with their HUSS Troika this year. Changed the theme/color and marked it as a new ride (Harley Quinn Spinsanity). So I don't see why SFGAm can't do the same with ERC. I would have no problem with if they did this.

I find it very unlikely they will do that though. It's one thing to mention an old ride in promotions when they're redoing an entire area to add a few new things, but it would be very strange to randomly promote a ride that's been there forever that's nowhere near the new ride, just because it's getting a new name.
You,ll never know with SF. Maybe they still got the cash for a new ride or saving for a bigger one in 2018 that is not a clone. It seems like 2017 is gonna disappoint a lot of coaster fans there goes their attendance.

I don't think "coaster fans" is really their big attendance base. The fact that "coaster fans" don't realize that is what causes the yearly freakout when the new rides don't live up to their expectations.

2017 is nothing to look forward to. The things is with the the 7-8 mil 4D's cost they could have been putting in Premier Ride Skyrocket II coasters like DK Superman Ultimate fight which cost 6 mil. The Catapult LSM like MM's Full Throttle is also about 6 mil. Even if SF is shy on the 15-20M bug coaster cost like the Dives Coasters, the launches are better options over all the 4D clones. Instead of having 5 4D's all the same model 1 more Skyrocket II and 1 more LSM would provide more variety across parks in models. Though still in the class of launch coasters , which SF has 6 , they are different than the Mr. Freeze's late 90's Diving LIM shuttle loop. 4D's are just clone after clone and not even adding the Intamin model for variety like MM got. in my opinion, a better move instead of 3 4D's would have been 1 each of a 4D, Skyrocket II, and Catapult LSM. The cost would have been slightly less. I would love SF to give all the parks without launch coasters one of the 4 models Premier Rides makes. So, while all would have a launch coaster there would be some variety of models across parks, unlike with the 4D's

^ Hear hear. It is truly remarkable that they built Full Throttle and all of it's themeing and extras for only $6 million. I expect our next "big" coaster addition in 2019 or 2020 to be a similar full circuit Premier LSM multi-train and multi-launch. But I am very happy with the addition of the 4D, I just wish they themed it to Two-Face or Harley Quinn so it's not just the Joker.

Agree, were not likely in line for a while. Also, they may eventually want to do something with AE, like RMC it like they did with Twisted Colussus, which is a dual track/racing coaster. I think that could be awesome for AE.
However, I could see 2 parks getting launches in 2018, 1 Sky Rocket II and 1 LSM. I think OG is prime candidate along with Mexico and La Ronde. Of course since none of those parks have 4D's, they may get them in 2018.
^Why do you think Six Flags will build another Sky Rocket? It's been 5 years since the last one they built, so why would they add another. It's just a clone (like The Joker), and honestly I'd prefer The Joker because of its unpredictability. You never know how many spins you will get. Also bbd, I'm assuming you got a mild ride on the 4D you rode. There's no telling if you get an amazing ride or an ok ride, so give it another try before you continue bashing it. The Joker will add to our park's line up of coasters and bring new variety, too.
Six Flags DOESN'T CARE about variety. If a 4D and a launched coaster cost the same, and their research says the local people in each park would like the 4D better, it would be 4Ds in every park (like it was). All the people who keep saying that it would be better if Six Flags did X or Y or Z need to explain WHO it would be better for. It would be more interesting as a fan, sure, but they doesn't mean it would be in the corporation's best interest.

Six Flags cares more about variety than you think. It's not so much variety across the chain, but variety within the parks. None of our coasters have they same appeal, and that includes The Joker. You can even throw in Ragin' Cajun, Iron Wolf, Deja Vu, and Shockwave. Each coaster is unique in that it doesn't do the same thing as another coaster in the park.

I think they will build more skyrockets or LSM launches b/c there are not many cheap coasters available. The reason they are building 4D's is b/c they are cheap. SF is no longer interests it seems in building the 15M or more coasters. That's why I don;t expect to see any dives coming b/c they are very expensive, the ones Busch built were 16M and Valravn was more than that. LOl. I lobe the logic of not knowing you like not knowing after waiting line if you will get a bad ride...few flips. Btw, I rode it more than once, different spots and it sucked equally each time. It's just a bad gimmick ride period. Great marketing by S&S on a poor ride.
No, you just think they'll add a Sky Rocket since your heard it on here. As a possibility. There's no evidence whatsoever that Six Flags will build another one.
Not everything you hear on an enthusiast site, especially a "New Rides" topic will happen

Regarding the launched coasters, Full Throttle was only $6 million as previously said by someone else. Maybe the smaller park's would receive Sky Rockets? That or another launch coaster gimmick.
