Worst Experiance ON a ride.

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hey. I just started this to find out how many of you have had a bad, scary, or dangerous time on a ride and how it was. On Viper my brothers lapbar popped up a few notches while going up the lift hill. He still rode the ride fine. I guess that will teach him not to staple himself down in the seat!
Me myself only got stuck once on batman on the lift hill with my cousin who was very scared of it. She was tripping out.

My lapbar pops up all the time on Viper and sometimes on Eagle a few clicks...it's not that big of a deal just push it back down.

My freakiest experiene was on Eagle Red, going up the lift it did that usual roll thing were the left side of the train flips up then crashes back down (pretty cool), but normally it does it a little way up the lift, this time it was the whole way up the lift and part of the drop . After that I told the ride ops to call maintenence, cause that's not normal.

I personally never had a really bad experience. but I went with my friend who's a couple years younger than me once. I took him on Shockwave. he was kinda scared, but ready. as we went up the lift, I started telling him things about the ride to freak him out all in good fun. but then we got stopped on the lift hill and he started freaking out. I felt really bad, but the ride was back up in a few minutes and he loved it so much he couldn't wait to go on it again. so what could have been a bad experience for him turned out to be a pretty cool one.

I did that once to my cousin. I told her that V2 is a real easy ride and not scary(she is scared easy, she always thinks it will break). I was telling her this all through the line and then when we got in the seats and locked in I kinda freaked her out telling her that it was very scary and that her harness may pop like it was a usual occurance. good times.

I've done that too, in 8th grade i told my friend (deathly afraid of even the whizzer) that Raging Bull was one of the easiest rides in the park. It was a dead day so we ran right into the station and right onto the ride. I kinda kept her eyes on me while we were running through the queue line so she didn't really notice how big it was. Right outta the station she started attacking me in my seat. She kinda liked it in the end, but still is very afraid of roller coasters.

Now I know normally OTS restraints can move a little to give some but the only time I ever rode DeJaVu was HORRIBLE. My OTS restraint gave ALLOT. Even my fiance said that something wasn't right. I was pretty freaked out and I was trying to call someone over to look at it but then the ride started! The next kid in line saw that I was having problems and saw that I was trying to get someones attention and let me tell you that when the ride started he looked really freaked. Well needless to say I lived but it was the scariest ride in my life! I was slipping all over. There was defnitley something wrong. That pretty much scared me for life now. I really don't know if I will ever go on that ride again.

My scariest time on a ride was when me a Rcman2001 were on Raging Bull and at the half way point on the lift and my lap bar popped up and did not click the first time I tryed to pop it back down but the second time it did. I scared on the first drop because we were on the back row and that yanks you down the hill and I thought I was going to die. :(

Another time was when I was on the Viper I was in my usual back row on the left and I was doing a pov for it and my lap bar poped up on the first drop and I quickley grabbed the handel while in the air and slamed it down. That was the most air time I have ever gotton on a ride ever. My camera has a two saftey handels on it and both of them were still on my hand. That was probelly the best time ever on the Viper. :)

Your lap bar did not click? Are there not sensors that check to make sure that your lap bar is past the little red line at the bottom of the restraints? That is why we always hear them saying "Check [row] 4" when there is a larger person riding. This sounds exaggerated to me.

I'm a bit of a drama queen and I always get scared on V2...nothing really to do with the ride, but in the front row I get so freaked out...and I know this could never happen but I'm always afraid you're gonna twist right off the track.

Other than that...I don't think anything too bad has happened...as far as I recall I've never been stuck or anything.

I would have to say my worst experience on a few of the coasters up at sfgam would have to be

1. Once when i was on Viper and my lap bar popped up a few clicks.. And when i got a LEG CRAMP on that ride.... that hurt really bad...

2. The first and LAST time i ever rode shockwave.....that was terrible for me...

Well i have this funny story well to me and my cousin anyways... Well it was her first time on De Ja Vu and she had pulled down her harnest and fastened her seatbelt and then she let go of her harnest N this one bar on the harnest came up to her forehead... and i told her htat is how it is throughout the entire ride and her eyes got HUGE! haha... it was quite histerical... but then they finally locked down... She got really mad at me though.

I was at the Miami Dade Fair riding a wipeout... it was squirting out hydrolic fluid like a hose. Ironically, the next day, their Gravitron fell apart.

I really don't believe the stories about lap bars coming up. There's sensors all over the train to make sure everything is in proper working order. On RB, if my lap bar came up, I'd immediately jump off the train and onto those stairs. There's E-Stop buttons periodically throughout the stairs and at the top and bottom. I'd press that and wait for someone to come. And at the very least, wouldn't you tell a ride op that a lap bar popped up while you were riding so they could check it out?

I've had my lapbar pop up on me on Viper. no big deal. it was still on the lift so I just pushed it back down and forgot about it. just because there are sensors on the train that let the ride ops know if a bar is up in the station doesn't mean that the sensors can report malfuctions during the ride. and the lap bar mechanics can malfuction just like any other mechanical system.

if I couldn't get a restraint to function and I was on the lift, then I'd probably hop out if it were safe (not on Batman ;) ) I always report any malfuctions that I noticed while on the ride even if ti turns out to be nothing. what the ride ops do from there is not my concern.

They probably don't come all the way up, but just a few clicks...no big deal just push it back down.

The nothing like that ever happens to me but my first ride on superman ever broke down. And my first ride period last season broke down. No big deal.

I did have a dream once when I was on viper and my Lapbar popped open. It was fun though, i didn't fly out and got a lot of air time. So it was sort of a fun scary dream.

I know I am going to sound like a big baby when I tell these two stories, but what the heck - might has well share.

When I was about 12 or so, my OTS on Batman popped up slightly. Looking back, it wasn't a big issue, and I wasn't in any type of danger, but at the time, I was so scared.

And here is where everyone picks on me..
 . Feel free to laugh.

Last year, I rode Superman for the first time during Fright Fest. For some reason, that ride scared the crap out of me. I usually LOVE coasters, and never have been the type to freak out or get scared for any reason. I am not sure why, but that night all logic left me. So, here I am sitting on the ride for the first time, with my 13 year old cousin who is totally addicted to it. And I start going crazy. As soon as we were turned face down, I started having some sort of panic attack. I was certain, for some crazy reason, that my weight being on that harness was going to make it break. I kept thinking "oh god, if this harness malfunctions for ANY reason, I am totally dead". During the whole ride, that was all I kept thinking, which only made matters worse. So by the time we got back to the station I was actually in tears..
Needless to say, I didn't enjoy Superman at all.
This year I am going to try to just get back on it, keep logic in mind, and just relax and enjoy it. I have heard nothing but great things about that ride, and want to try to just have fun on it..lol.
Yeah, like I said, I can be a moron.

My worst personal experiance was on S:UF as well. It was a BUSY day in July and i had been waiting a good hour and a half for S:UF when i finally got into the backrow, seat 4. We start leaving the station when the train stops. I figure, ok easy breakdown...some mechanic will come in and turn a key into the operators table and we'll be flying in no time.

About 35-40 minutes later they finally unstrap me and take my harness off manually. I was the last one off the train...and yes...I was laying down the whole time. So i had a terrible headache for most of the day. But i did get a little "enter through the exit" of a ride pass. Which was kinda neat.

Last season my brother, my dad, and me went to SFGAm during a somewhat cold, windy day. We got there and every ride was closed except V2 and Iron Wolf but they said the others might open later.

So we went to V2 and while waitng in line for liek 5min the ride broke down(it got stuck on the straight away), so we waited 10min more. When we finnaly got on we got all straped in and we launched off and after we came back down from the spiral tower we got stuck on the striaght away for like for 15min in the freezing, windy, cold.
So after that were like forget this, grabbed some popcorn and went home and ordered some pizza :) .

Worst ride experience and park experience I have ever had.

EDIT: Great America Guy: That same happened to my 7th grade science teacher on Demon a while back.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

My worst time was when I was with my friend on Batman. It was a cold, windy, Mother's Day, and we had just got on the ride, when it broke down on the lift hill. Oh and by the way, at that same time, it started to hail. We were also in the front row. So it took them like 15 minutes and our faces had dots all over them when we got off. It hurt soo bad, but it was funny, now that I think of it.
