You get the same error message if you do the same thing to St. Louis but with "Spinsanity". Looks like "Joker" is definitely the name!
Wisco Woody wrote:How in the hell can any of you want a superloop over a 4D free spin? Even if it is a replica of Joker at GAdv, it will be the first and only 4D in the Midwest, and you'd have to go to the coasts or Texas to ride another one of any kind. 4D is a much better fit than putting a stupid superloop next to our most iconic looping coaster.
Have you ridden a free spin? It's nothing. Superloops suck also but a loop would come likely with a Zamperla Endeavor and something else. It would be bad to blow our coaster spot in SF pecking order on 4D over a real coaster in 2018 or 2019.

What I'm most excited for with a 4D is that we would have 5 alternate riding position coasters: 1. First inverted looping coaster, 2. Inverted launched vertical shuttle coaster, 3. Flying coaster, 4. Wing coaster, and 5. 4D wing free spin coaster.
People like to make pronouncements about how Six Flags works (even I do it), but nobody really knows. We got a B&M in 2012. So, by all logic it should have been years before we got another big coaster. But then we got Goliath two years later. The point being, nobody except Six Flags really knows their long term plan, so I really don't think it's safe to assume that a Free Spin this year means nothing foe a few more years. (If I was going to assume anything, it's that a big coaster isn't coming for years and years (no matter what happens in 2017), because Six Flags doesn't seem to so that anymore, but again that's just a guess).

No idea what or when the next $15+ million coaster will be, but likely don't expect it before 2021.
Don't view it as "coaster vs non-coasters", view it in terms of cost to the park. Referring back to my earlier posts, the 4D only costs 6 to 7 million $, about the same as a flat ride package with a superloop or a Premier launched coaster. The real question is when will we see the next major coaster longer than 3,000 ft, and the likely answer is not until after 2021 because it will cost $15+ million.

SFGAm is not in the logical pecking order for a coaster, ie...4D for this year. The park has received a new coaster in 2014. The park doesn't have a Superloop and needs updated flat rides. Superloop with flat rides is the logical addition like several other parks got in 2015 and 2016. ..The park is in line for a coaster in 2018 possibly and big time in 2019, if not in 2018. The park would be best off getting 2 solid years of flat rides and revamps. Superloop and Zamperla Endeavor(Catwoman Whip at OT) are obvious choices. We already have Revolution so won't likely get a Zymperla Discovery(riddlers revenge at OT) that have been part of other Packages. We also have a ride in the same genre of "spinsanity" ride that came with other parks packages at OT, Fiesta, GA.
Well, unless we can find another attraction name in the domains, we're getting something named Joker, most likely a clone of the 4d at great adventure. Keep in mind, they are getting a justice league next year, when we got it this year. And they got a free spin this year, while if we get it next year, it will complete the cycle, except vice versa.
Likely a superloop called Joker. Btw, in your cycle analysis you left out they got a superloop in 2015. I realy don;t see how people think SF Corporate would give us a coaster in 2014 and 2017 when other SF have had much longer gaps with a new coaster.
If you want to talk about patterns/cycles. SF corporate has been doing 2 Major coasters, 1 4D, 4 superloops, Justice leagues and 2 flat ride packages per year.
--NE is getting a 4D --GA and Adv are getting the Justice Leagues It appears OT is in prime spot for a coaster, with America, maybe Fiesta also. Fiesta is getting something big b/c the quarry pics tease. St. Louis looked likely b/cof a drought and Boomerang problems but people are into the poster, which I'm wary of. --Were are in line for ride package in my opinion along with Discovery or MM

Like I said have you ridden a 4D? It's like a carnival ride just bigger. It' absolutely nothing special. The manufacturing has done a good job hyping a mediocre product. People love to hear 4D
Don't assume Six Flags is "fair". They do what makes them money. If Great America or Magic Mountain or Great Adventure being in more people, they may get more money to buy a coaster every few years, but a park like St Louis may have to wait longer.
I've ridden X2 at MM, and yes I realize the small and short free spin pales in comparison. Yes the general public will love the 4D concept, and this will at least slightly lessen the lines for Batman, Superman, V2, and Goliath.
No, they're completely different. What you're saying is that this:
Is more like Revolution than this:
Both are things most of us here want. One is a LOT more like Revolution than the other.
Also, we had 2 wild mice, 2 antique car rides, 2 sky rides, and 2(3 is you count the different layers of Columbia) carousels at the same time some point in our park's history.
Anyway, I'm even more torn between Freespin and Superloop than ever before. Both can fit, both are plausible, but both have their questions- What else would we get if we got JUST a Superloop? What does getting 2 capital investments back to back mean for our future? Will Mardis Gras be rethemed as well?

X2 is not like the 4D Joker SFAdv and the one in Fiesta.. X2 is a much better ride and 10x more thrilling. It's technically marketed as 5D and goes like 75 miles per/hr and has real coaster drops. If people were talking about the park getting something like X2 I would be very happy. 4D S&S is slightly better carnival ride that goes like 35miles/hr

Do you think a intamin zacspin is a carnival ride? Because I've never seen one at a carnival. The free spin is the same thing only smoother, really.

Ughh Thursday can't come quick enough.
in my opinion the 2 rides are somewhat in the same class somewhat. The Disko is pretty close to our current Revolution/ That's why I don't think we would get a Disko. I would love a Discovery or better yet, the Discovery Revolution. To be frank I would be thrilled with an Endeavor, Discovery Revolution, and would deal with the Superloop, as our 2017 ride package. I don't think we would get a spin sanity like the OT package b/c spin sanity is somewhat like Fiddlers Fling( spin ride). I really don't think were getting a new coaster till 2019. just a feeling and then hopefully it's a launch. In the meantime I would be find with adding several years of flat rides.

I think intamin zacspin and 4D S&S are slightly jazzed up carnival ride tech. The specs on these things are 35mph, that's not a real coaster to me. A kid coaster goes 35mph. I don't view them as real coasters. Would take great flat rides mentioned before over all of them.

Look at the train walk under of Batman the ride at sfft. It's on coasterforce's YouTube channel. This is not carnival ride tech. This is advanced stuff.

It's jazzed up carnival flip rides. They have done a god job of marketing a 30-35 mph ride that may or may not flip you a few times over a whopping 30 second ride..ie..Joker at SFGadv as a coaster.
Until I read it here, I've rarely seen/heard any negative reviews on the S&S 4D free spins other than its short. But what new age coaster isn't these days besides a giant B&M? yes, an X style coaster would be iconic but I'm sorry, it's a scary damn good ride but it's also very aggressive. Same goes for Greem Lantern, it's rough ( I haven't been on this one but really only hear horrid things). With the free spins I hear they are really smooth & fun. The hate on them is stupid just cause you want the bigger version. Do you hate on Goliath cause it wasn't the giga you wanted? No, you know it's fun. Give this "jazzed up carnival ride" a chance. & if you still want to hate on it after its here, guess what? You make choices everyday & you can make the choice to walk right past it.

A Six Flags park basically is just a jazzed up carnival. Sure, everybody wants huge iconic rides, but you can't build a park just in that. This year we got a pretty special attraction you'd never see anywhere near a carnival, so I'm fine with a somewhat more standard ride next time.

Let me ask everyone a serious question. As we know X-Flight and Goliath collectively cost about $32 million, and for comparison Fury 325, the giga at Carowinds, cost by itself a whopping $30 million. Would you rather have both X-Flight and Goliath, or rather just a massive giga like Fury 325 instead?
I know that I sure as hell prefer having both X-Flight and Goliath rather than just a single 30 million $ coaster, and I think this is the approach that Six Flags will continue to take with its parks, and I agree with that strategy.
