Goliath - Some Six Flags park haven't received coasters in years (SFOT, SFOG, La Ronde, etc.) and we just got an expensive RMC 2 years ago (Will by 3) which opened as the tallest, fastest, and steepest wooden coaster in the world. SFGADV went 5 years without a coaster, and their park is considered more popular, bigger, and had more local competition. 2. We all ready have 14 coasters. Does SFGAm really need more coasters right now? Not necessarily, some coasters could use a slight rehab (Demon) but we need other things right now (Flats for example) 3. Don't you think that if SFGAm was adding a coaster, they'd have started some campaign by now? Like I said, they're not going to keep something like this is a secret, they want people to know about it.
1. Every park is different. Great America is (or should be, at least) one of the biggest, best parks in the chain because it's in one of the biggest areas. SFFT got Iron Rattler in 2013 and Batman in 2015, which is a smaller gap than it would be if we got a Free Spin next year. SFGAd is just weird and hard to compare to I think, they have an entire animal safari park and a few rides way bigger than anything we'll ever have and all sorts of space they just don't use. (As an aside, if you're interested in theme parks and have time to kill, you should read http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/ sometime, that park has a fascinating history that's way more convoluted than ours)
2. Does any park really ever NEED any particular thing? The new attraction next year, whatever it is, isn't going to make or break the park.
3. No, I don't. If they wanted everybody to know everything right away, they wouldn't even do teasers, they'd just announce it in spring or whatever on the day that the official contract was signed for the ride. No matter what the new thing is, they always announce it the same time right before Labor Day, the only difference is what exact day in early August they start the teasers, and I don't think there's nearly enough evidence to say that they start earlier for a roller coaster. Nobody is going to be more or less excited about the ride because they started on August 10th instead of August 1st.
All that said, it's very possible that it won't be a roller coaster. It just seems to be that it's sort of likely, because they're opening up a decent sized area (and doing it earlier than you would think would be necessary for just a few flat rides), and because we just got a "kiddie ride package" type thing last year so it feels about time for a mid-size coaster (which we haven't gotten in a while, the last two were both major coasters...)
A thought - maybe they're holding off on any off on any teaser-y stuff until after they get the media hype going for the Demon VR thing? That seems to be their main focus right now...
I did not see that one coming. I thought they would go to Over Georgia, St. Louis, and Over Texas.

I could see us revamping the kidzopolitz to bugs bunny boom town. Thats what SFNE is doing, and a free spin I could see possibly in 2018. Id rather see a premier launch coaster though

Isn't Georgia confirmed for a Justice League?
Yeah, that's right. Can't wait to find out more!

Justice League cost $8 million. In 2015, we saw an attendance increase on an offseason. Corporate rewards increases in attendance (especially in offseasons!), so it wouldn't surprise me if we received another $5-8 million investment in 2017.
Justice League was closer to 12 million I believe. I mean the cars alone were 5 million. Each car cost 500k and we have 10. So last year was a huge investment to our park, same as Goliath. B&M coasters cost around 25 million so I don't think we'll see one of those anytime soon.
My "guess" is still a flat ride package going off that survey I received before the season started about a giant frisbee.

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but why would ERC be closing for a refurb now if it were to be closed for one. Didn't it get an intensive refurb that required it to be closed for a whole season a year or two ago
Makes perfect sense for SFNE. That park honestly is incredible. They're really turning that park into a thrill Capitol. I still want one though, cause I think we are very well rounded & that would just add to it. But a want is not a need.

Yes, it did shut down for a season for an extensive refurb recently. The early closing appears to be for a relocation of the ride to where Orbit was, if the rumors are true.
Rats. I was just there. I think that park needs something like that, the coaster line up is pretty bad outside the top 3.
Personally I just don't see a Free Spin for SFGAm 2017. A welcome addition sure, but realistically I think JLBFM was a "large" addition. Hopefully some flats. If not flats, than hopefully a water park expansion. I hate water parks in general but understand they need some love too. So if we're gonna have an "off year", hopefully it's a water park addition just so that we don't have to get one later.

But that doesn't really make any sense either, because it doesn't take 6 or 7 months or whatever to move a flat ride across the park.
I see a few people thinking it's going to be something with Kidzopolis, or the water park, and both of those would make sense EXCEPT for the flat ride stuff. If you assume that the entire Orbit/ERC/Jester's rumor is true (and it's all been coming true so far), why would they be clearing out that area now unless they were doing something with it next year? It makes absolutely zero sense to close those rides in August 2016 because of something they're planning for 2018.

Not all B&M's cost $25 Million FYI. Fury 325 cost $30 Million and that was over 5,000 feet of steel track. I believe X-Flight cost $12-14 Million for instance so size really does play a role when it comes to cost my man

Maybe 2017 will be the year of the clones for Six Flags. Several Justice League clones(SFOG,SFADV and SFMM) and several Free Spin clones(SFNE, SFGAm and SFStL). As for the other parks the only one that has any 2017 rumors is SFFT. It's also looking like there won't be any RMC's next year.
I've got a feeling that if we get a 4D free spin it will not be a clone. Because our park likes to be innovative I don't see us getting a cloned 4D. Considering the fact of what's going on around and in Mardi Gras.
From what I've heard from a few employees, Jester's is going to SFA and if the 4D Free Spin happens it will be slightly modified so it can go over the pathway.
I don't get everyone wants a Free Spin so badly. I'll admit, I'm going too far into this, I think Free Spins look like cool rides and I've thought of some pretty cool color schemes/names, but lets face it: The ride is over in like 35 seconds after you descend the lift hill. Does SFGAm really need another short coaster?
