Goliath the WORST RMC coaster ever built?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SFGAm2016 on June 16th, 2015, 7:20 pm
I think Goliath is by far the WORST RMC coaster in terms of operations and technical difficulties. The ride has been CLOSED DOWN MANY times this year! It even vallied during a test run one time. This should NOT be happening. NO other RMC coaster has had the same or as many problems as Goliath. And now this issue with the chain lift is going to cause Goliath to be DOWN THE REST OF THE YEAR!!!

So, what's your source on the coaster being down for the rest of the year?

Calm down and keep your pants on... Problems happen... Let's give the park a chance to work on things before we start whining...

Relax,
All coasters have their problems, and Goliaths are pretty tame compared to others.
Look at Deja vu, it was closed for pretty much the whole year it was supposed to open, and was closed more than 50% of the time it was at SFGAm

Using best or worst doesnt really make sense when there have only been 2 coasters built from scratch by rmc.

Last year when I went to Silver Dollar City. Outlaw Run seemed to go down almost every hour. Not sure if I just caught it on a bad day or if that is a common thing amongst RMC coasters.

I think it's too early in the season to assume Goliath will be closed for the rest of the year. So relax.

I've done Meduasa at SFM and Outlaw Run both seemed to operate pretty normally on the day(s) I visited compared with any other rides. Ride wise both are far superior to Goliath, and I have no doubt we have the "worst" RMC coaster, but I'll gladly take the worst RMC over the best that quite a few other manufacturers have to offer.

I think I'm smelling another Deja Vu. I think 6 flags should have gone with a company with more experience. I mean how long has RMCb been in the coaster game anyway?

RMC was founded in 2001, though I know the guys who founded it were building coasters well before that.

Part defects have little to do with experience. No idea who SF or RMC uses for all the lift mechanisms but whoever it is, it'd be on them. It's just to bad that every single part on really any lift system is going to be a custom part. No body is going to stock that kind of stuff as there are so many different types. And that is besides of course at least some level of structural damage from whatever happened.

X Flight had a similar lift incident in 2013. It's too bad they didn't go with someone more experienced than B&M, right?

Texas giant vallied during test runs as well.

All other RMCs have had their share of issues. You just don't realize it because you don't visit those other parks on a regular basis. Go over to a SFMM forum page. TC has spent some days running a single train because of issues with the other two. TC opens late almost every day. Goliath is not the only RMC that has issues. But if you really think its that awful than don't get in line and make the wait shorter for the rest of us.

What he said! People need to lighten up Francis about Coasters being down for repair. It's not even been a week, it's a bit early to start with the speculation. I was at the park this weekend and a few people in "supervisor" positions said they're trying to get it back up as soon as they can, and hoped Friday would be the target date (for Coasters After Dark) one can only hope they meet that goal.
I've lost my coaster count.

I'm pretty sure this is the same guy who said that Gurnee residents should not be allowed to attend the zoning meetings because "they complain too much".

I'm sure the park concocted a scheme with RMC to make sure this happened.....

In reality, it stinks when your newest signature attraction has issues, but that's life; it's not like this is the only ride the park has ever had that went down for a major mechanical issue during operation. When it's fixed and operational, it'll open...whether that's tomorrow, 2 weeks, 3 months, next season....

Coasters have hiccups occasionally. Things happen. Things break. PLCs can get glitchy. Goliath is still pretty new and it's from a pretty decent company that has some fantastic engineers. I seriously doubt Goliath will be down the rest of the year. I bet the Dippin' Dots guy told you huh.

Goliath at SFMM also has a broken chain lift as well, So it's not just RMC, It's Six Flags in general.

Maybe Jimmy should take some of his 4 Million salary and get some chain lifts but Whatever.

When you say Jimmy do you mean the CEO? If you think he makes 4 million a year you are mistaken. It's much much more than that.

I've been gone for the past week on vacation... So apparently Goliath has a lift hill problem and has been down all week? Correct me if I'm wrong, or just give me the whole story. All I see is that people are speculating that Goliath is going to closed the rest of the year, and I have no idea what's going on. Can someone just tell me what happened and when?

^^^^ Goliath was evacuated on Thursday the 11th after sounds of loud bumps. It seems as though it's something to do with the chain/motor. Mechanics have been on the lifthill, at the top and bottom. Orange Train was still at the bottom as of Sunday. (I know it's redundant to report that but still, some don't visit as often as others  ) I've heard that the train will be winched up because of the problems with the lift. From there, I really have no idea.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P
